Anyone here running Gigabyte's RTX 2060S OC?
(...) and if so, how does it perform in today's endgame standards?
RTX 2060 Super OC (8GB VRAM, over 1700mHz boost clock) is the cheapest option for a chunky upgrade for me to get, as I'm currently using an extremely overclocked GTX 1060, also from GB. I will be able to also save up a bit on not having to upgrade my PSU for more expensive, power-hungry models. All feedback will be extremely appreciated. What issues are you having? My old i5 and 1060 work great for POE, even at 1440 with mostly high settings.

" Delirious maps, delirium encounters, simulacrums - all pretty much instantly trigger resolution scaling to try to keep 60 FPS up. That's on 1080p and everything "default" or lowest possible in terms of settings. Apart from my card, everything else is quite modern. Ryzen 7 2700x, 16GB 2,6gHz memory, and the game runs on an m.2 from Samsung. Sitting in HO spamming alts for 4 hours straight is peak PoE gameplay. Thanks, Chris. I've heard that some people get lower performance with dynamic resolution, so maybe thats an option to test.
Also switching from DX11 to Vulkan helps a lot. Disabling the sound of dieing mobs via ini-tweak nets another chunk of performance stabilisation (less FPS drops). If PoE is the sole reason to upgrade, i'd rather wait with spending money. |

" 1. No dynamic resolutions means that I'll drop as far as to 20 FPS 2. Hardware-dependent. In my case Vulkan runs like crap 3. You cannot disable specific sounds; only a group of them just like with normal audio settings in game 4. And why is that? You mean I should not upgrade my hardware to enjoy playing a game that I've spent years playing? And quite frankly I asked for info on how a specific card performs in PoE, not how I could possibly get more out of my old, outdated GPU. Disabling sounds via ini-tweak is different to setting Sounds to 0 in normal options, If i remember correctly tweaking the ini results in not processing those disabled sounds at all, while setting them to 0 in options still processes them but at a volume of 0.
I'd rather wait with an investment in a new GPU because nVidia and AMD are expected to release their new GPUs around August/September. I know you could always wait for the "next big thing", but Ampere and Sienna Cichlid seem to be really "big Things". As usual, old generation GPUs will be lowered in price. So you either pay less or get more performance. As PoEs performance could be called wonky, upgrading from last Gen to actual Gen could net in relative low performance-gain, PoE-wise. Sorry for beeing unclear in my first post ;) |

" Yes, I know that, hence why I even made a performance guide for those like me who suffer. But config file is nothing but the settings menu in pure text form for the game to read from. You can set things to "false", they won't render, but you cannot spec a specific "x" sound to not be rendered. If that was the case, then legion and delirium would run smooth for everyone, because sounds in those encounters overlap so much the CPU has trouble to process them all at once. You can stop all sound effects, music, or ambient sounds from rendering, and that is it. And playing this game without sounds is even worse than dropping frames. As noted before, I cannot afford a high-end, new-gen GPU. Not only will they be extremely expensive where I live (yay for export prices), but they will require me to also upgrade my PSU. I'm simply looking for someone who uses the card I am looking for feedback on to let me know how it performs. Sitting in HO spamming alts for 4 hours straight is peak PoE gameplay. Thanks, Chris. " I would buy a ASUS card because their cooling is better --> had a Gigabyte card "melt" down on me. Luckily Danish consumer law saved me, got a refund and bought the Asus card. Never had a problem after this. Also, there should coming a new nVidia card this year so I would wait if I were you.... |

" I've been running my GB GTX 1060 overclocked like crazy on stock dual-fan cooler for a year now. Windforce series performs amazingly well; my temps never exceed 70*C on the GPU. Asus, on the other hand, I don't trust at all. Never had anything from them, and their RMA sucks here where I live. Sitting in HO spamming alts for 4 hours straight is peak PoE gameplay. " Hmm OK, well wouldn't know about ASUS RMA since Danish consumer law gives 2 years warrenty. :) But why buy now if new card comes out this year. You will end up paying to much for the 2080 card right now ?? |
