So what IS poison damage anyway?

Is it Chaos damage...if so, why not just CALL it chaos damage?
If it isn;t, what is it..?
Another elemental damage?
Is itt DoT always?
Does Resist All protect against it?
Does Chaos resistance effect it, if so, back to point 1^

Basically, if it's just chaos damage, why not just label is at such?
IGN: Kulde
It's a Chaos DoT.
Then depending on the skill (or passive), the damage can vary.
For example, the poison on crit passive with daggers is a 10% chaos damage over 2sec.
But poison from viper strike and poison arrow is a flat number DoT.

And it's just shorter to write "Poison" than "Chaos damage over x sec".

Poison damage counts as chaos damage.

Resist all does not exist. It always says resist all 'elements'. Elements are fire, lightning and cold only.

Not all chaos damage is a DoT. (ex. added chaos damage support)

I expect several folks may be confused on one or all of these points. The reason is that the only example in game of chaos damage that doesn't say chaos damage, is poison damage. The way I think of it is that chaos is a larger category than just poison, and the developers may intend on making more types of chaos damage.

Simplifying all examples of chaos damage to say chaos damage (instead of whatever else they say) would be just limit flavor in the differing possibilities within the larger category.
