Can Instant Leech enjoy benefit of Increased Damage while Leeching?

I am lucky enough to have an old pair of Atziri's Acuity which gives me instant leech on life and mana. My build is Slayer and I picked the Ascendancy Brutal Fervour which grants me the benefits of over-leech and "Increased Damage and Attack Speed while Leeching". I have nearly 100 crit chance, do I still enjoy those benefits? I am uncertain because the word "while" leeching seems to mean continuous leech.

Interesting question. Would depend on how the game tests whether you are leeching. If it checks every 135ms to see whether you have a balance > 0 in your leech pool, it should never see you as leeching.

But I don't normally play Slayer, so I'm sure someone else will have better info.

no.. instant leech has no duration.. so you never reach that condition

Thanks for the quick answer. But Instant Leech is still "leech", why would I not benefit from those "While Leeching" benefits from Endless Hunger and Brutal Fervour at the point when I hit and leech?

If I really can't benefit as a result of the Instant Leech. I should scale down my Critical Strike Chance so that the non-crit hits can enjoy those benefit, right?

because "while leeching" implies there is some period of time when you are leeching. instant leech is instant thus there is no time you are actually leeching..

edit: lowering your crit would most likely result in losing more damage then you would gain. Just look for some other damage mods.. these are nothing special, just ordinary increased damage..

I am less concerned of losing damage as my damage at the moment is pretty good. I am more keen on keeping the benefit of no stun and no bleeding. Is there a way I can achieve that? One of the modes in Endless Hunger is "20% Over Damage is Leeched as Life". Does that leech from over damage be counted as "while leeching" if I have Brutal Fervour?

Yes, potential leech from overkill damage will count you as 'leeching'. I think overkill damage is not considered your crit and leech happens over time. But Im not 100% sure, never tested it.. You have the gloves so you can..

btw, when you play cyclone you dont need to care much about stun immunity, its granted by the skill.

do you have 100% crit with all the buffs or even without them? there is also a second crit check with chance to hit (you dont seem to have 'hits cant be evaded' and its hard to have 100% chance to hit with accuracy rating). So there will be with such fast hitting skill some non-crits that would fuel your Slayer leech

Even overkill leech is instant. Any mod that indicates "while leeching" is wasted if you have instant leech, whether from passives or items. Instant is instant. There is no "while".

The only way around it to get instant leech AND get "while leeching" effects is using a Bloodseeker claw for instant leech in one hand and another non-instant leech weapon in the other, with a skill that alternates attack hands. Skills like Dual Strike that attack with both at once are fully instant leech with a Bloodseeker, but skills like Double Strike will be instant with the Bloodseeker and normal leech with the other.

With legacy Acuity though, there's nothing you can do. Nothing on Brutal Fervour works with them, and the only thing on Endless Hunger that works with them is the overkill leech (which can still be worthwhile, even if the other two mods are wasted).

Thanks for all the responses. So in summary, if I pick both Endless Hunger and Brutal Fervour from Slayer Ascendancy, the following apply:

1. Instant leech from Critical Strikes while wearing legacy Atziri's Acuity cannot enjoy any benefits from "while leeching" modes.

2. Non-critical strikes while wearing legacy Atziri's Acuity are not instant leech, hence can enjoy the benefits of "while leeching" modes. (That is, although my Critical Strike Chance is high, there will still be times when my damage is non-crit. These non-crit leech instances will enable me to enjoy the benefits of the "while leeching" modes.)

3. Leech resulting from Endless Hunger's "20% Over Damage is Leeched as Life" mode is not Critical Strike and thus should not be instant leech. Therefore, this type of leech can benefit from the "while leeching" modes.


Is my above understanding correct?
