POE OVERLAY

Hey guys, so I was just reading around on reddit, and this post were saying that people are getting banned for using POE Overlay. Is this true? I thought that this third party program uses the official trading site and also follows the macro rules of GGG. But if this isn't true I would stop using it. Any idea?

doubt that's the reason tbh. tbh i don't use that so don't really know what all is in it. could be that there is something in there that's not allowed and therefore people getting banned?

Well, apparently people are getting banned because it's hitting their API a few million times a day. Also most people are just getting their account blocked and not banned apparently, but idk personally what's going on, because there wasn't any official statement about this from GGG.

IMHO AH could solve this (and many others[scammers]) problem.
If they really want people to bargain just set 2 buttons - Buyout and Contact Seller.
But no. Complain about hammering website.

It would be a good idea to just stop using it for now. There needs to be a clear and coherent statement from GGG about it, and continuing to use it until there is one is probably not a great idea.

There's official statements from ggg in the same thread you posted.

If you're ddosing the fucking trade website then your account is going to be locked. It has nothing to do with poe overlay other than this tool can let you do just that.

All 3rd party tools should equal a ban, but then 90% of POE's so called player base would be gone.

POE should spend more time adding some of the 3rd party features to the game. You know to improve the game but I guess MTX's and broken new skills is just about all we get.

On the 28th we got 6.7 million requests from poe-overlay in total.

6.1 million of those returned 429 (rate-limited).

5.9 million of those rate-limited requests were from 3 unique accounts.

I suspect that people got banned for using bots that used POE overlay, but some additional clarity would be nice.

Personally I can't see myself ever playing this game without either poe overlay or trademacro where the first seems to be a lot better. And I only use the it to check a price of my items. Which otherwise would be impossible.

There is no alternative to actually trading unless you want to spend 90% of the time on websites, and 10% playing the game.

Also the lack of understanding and clarity from GGG is mind blowing. They seem intent to alienate players and not interested in attracting new ones. A lot of simple QOL missing from this game for years with no intend to every do anything about it.

They seem only interested in creating yet more useless microtransactions. Not listening to what people who keep the lights on actually have to say.
