Elemental focus & herald of ash ignite interaction
If I have Elemental focus on my main skill wich cannot inflict ignite so but NOT linked to Herald of ash and I kill something with Herald of Ash up, will I still cause an ignite potentially? In other words, can the Herald of ash be my source of Ignite over burning ?

Herald of Ash deals burning damage over time but it doesn't ignite.

Correct. Herald of Ash's overkill effect will apply a burning without igniting (similiar to Righteous Fire) to the overkilled enemies.
Three things to consider: > Skills do not have to be linked to a buff (like heralds) or an aura (like Anger) to be influenced by them. Buffs and Auras are applied to your character and any skill/thing they do > When you use something that cannot allow you to inflict something (like the "no elemental ailments" of Elemental Focus, or the "cannot bleeding" of Bloodlust, or the "you lightning damage cannot shock" of The Three Dragons"), the "cannot" bonus overwrite not only your "x% chance to" bonus, but also the "always" bonus. In other words, if you link an Elemental Focus to a Vaal Burning Arrow (which has a "always ignite"), that Vaal Burning Arrow will never inflict Ignite (or any other elemental ailment) > In order to inflict ignite, you have to hit an enemy. So there is no way you can make something that only inflicts DoT damage (like Righteous Fire, Contagion and the like) to proc any ailment, elemental or not |

" And what happen if I add Flammability stand alone not linked to anything which says: "cursed enemies have 10-14% chance to be ignited by Fire damage" ? "ignited by fire damage" is generic, not a specific source of hit, wondering if it can work in this case, does it ? I know the skill linked to elemental focus cannot inflict ignite anyway but what about the herald of ash overkill burning fire dot damage NOT LINKED to elemental focus ? can herald inflict ignite in this scenario thanks to flammability or still cannot ? " They do not have to specify it because damaging ailments can only be inflicted by hits (or proliferation). " Again, no, it cannot do that since 3.0 which was 2 years ago. Last edited by etuhoha#0710 on Apr 21, 2020, 9:49:56 AM
