Lightning Strike and sigle target (need lots of help)

Hi there. I made a Lightning Strike build based on projectiles and got them to deal 1m+ damage each. BUT, but, but, when I face any boss, it looks like they don't take the projectile damage in melee range. And that kinda breaks my char, because I tried to make it a shotgun build.

I just want to know how the projectiles work on this skill. I already read the wiki on LS and there is nothing related to my issue there.

That would be because Lightning Strike does not shotgun.
As a matter of fact, no projectile skill can shotgun unless specified or deal damage via AoE

Here are some examples:

> Shrapnel Ballistas: Projectiles from this skill CAN shotgun, because it's specifically said in the skill description: "Enemies can be hit by multiple arrows from the same attack."
> Molten Strike: Projectiles from this skill do not actually deliver damage themselves, but rather AoE damage in a very small radius based on the projectile damage. These areas CAN overlap, thus "shotgunning" if the enemy's hitbox is big enough or you can find a way to make them spread less

> Magma Orb: same as Molten Strike
> Tornado Shot: The main hit CANNOT shotgun, but the secondary arrows created by each single Tornado arrow can hit the same enemy, thus "shotgunnin". Sort of.
> Blast Rain: AoEs can overlap, de facto "shotgunning" an enemy if caught in the middle


Here are some example that will NOT work:

> Galvanic Arrow (ex Shrapnel Shot): since the arrow and the cone are two different part of the skill, an enemy can be hit by both the cone and at most one arrow
> Ice Shot: same as Galvanic Arrow
> Freezing Pulse: an enemy can be hit by a single Freezing Pulse per cast


Generally speaking, the rule of thumb is: An enemy can be hit by a single cast/attack at most once, with AoE being (sometime) an exception. Some attacks have mechanincs that can bypass this by design (Double Strike, barrage). Unfortunately for you, Lightning Strike is not on this list - it's just a melee hit with extra projectiles, just like Frost Blades

Looking at the bright side, you do have a decent crowd control build, so far.

Thanks for the answer. Looks like I have some itens to sell and a character to delete then.
Sorry to hear that, projectiles' mechanics get quite tricky in this game.
Respeccing is a thing, if character class still applies. If any you can at least get your time in levelling back.

What you need to do is have ancestral support, there is a sweet spot where if you hit not ON the target but just on the side or in front of it, you hit the target with the bolts, the hit and the ancestral supp does its thing and hit the target as well...essentially doubledipping into damage that way, its not perfect but it works.
To make it easier, make sure you have always attack without moving turned on.

Harvest is easy to get well over 5m per projectile. Can do all content but 8Sirus is tricky you need to know the fight.
