Summoner Unlucky @ Map Finding?

Playing a 74 curse/summoner I am finding it difficult to find level 66-67 maps.

I don't feel I should have to upgrade a map using an ALC just to have a better chance at a map dropping.

The first few 66 maps I ran dropped 1-2 maps each time so I worked my way up to eight total maps. Then slowly now they've whittled down to one left - a 67 arsenal map - which is not good for a summoner.

I tried farming with high quantity gems on both my zombies and spectres, and yeah lots of more crap on the ground, but in the past three days of farming about 4-5 hours a day docks/solaris lvl 3/lunaris lvl 2 I've had one map drop. One. I ran that map today and no maps dropped inside.

I have only been making them magic so the quality is usually 15%-35% depending upon the roll. I did upgrade one using an ALC to an 86% rare map and it did drop one map, but hardly seems worth using a valuable ALC to do this.

Is it just summoners? Is it how I'm doing it? Or am I just a victim of the random drop gods?

Map quantity and quality *might* affect map drops in maps (I don't really know), but I do remember reading that IIR/IIQ equip and gems do not.

My Summoner completed the game with 9 Maps. My ColdCrit finished the game with zero. Shrug.
Did you know level 91 is the halfway point to level 100? This means that a softcore character dying ONCE at level 85+ can lose many days of progress.
Yeah I think I'm just unlucky with the summoner. Finished the game with no Uniques either, got some later.

My Marauder has gotten four or five uniques so far and is nearing 50.

Your just a victim of the random drop god =X. Yesterday I ran a couple maps that dropped 2 maps each. Today am done to 4 maps left. At least you can buy maps off people willing to sell them. This game really favors group play as between a group you have much more maps to use.

I hope in the future you would be able to purchase maps from the npc by using chisels or something. Sometimes the random generator fucks you over and who wants to farm docks all day that is boring.

Maze can happen on any map? Well I don't think Mazes can be good for a summoner because of minion pathing. Once they fix it or give us a command that summons all minions to the summoner anything with lots of walls/doors/barricades are trouble.

Maze is good for everybody, but it is a waste of currency to try to roll for maze on every low level map. Maze can only happen on indoor maps, on outdoor maps the equivalent is increased area size. The guy who is saying 5-10 maps per maze is simply wrong. That used to be true on certain maps which got way way bigger than they were supposed to with maze mod, but that got fixed a while ago.

Maze is still the best mod to get on (indoor) maps, but when a 66 map is only worth ~10 alts trade value, burning 40 alts to get it to maze is stupid.

Here's what I do:

66 and 67 maps: Transmute. Use orbs of alteration to roll one of 6 things: Area size, Maze, Pack Size, More magic monsters, More rare monsters, OR 40+ Total quantity

68 maps: Chance orb, If magic, repeat above strategy, if rare use if doable, scour/chance if the mods are too risky/impossible for your build


69-72 maps: Alchemy, chaos if the mods are too risky


73 Through 76 maps: Chisel, Alchemy. Chaos until 100 Quantity or Area size, maze, pack size, more magic, more rare.


77 maps: Chisel, Alchemy. Chaos until (Maze or Area size) and (Pack size, more magic, more rare, or 100+ quantity)

Make sure to always use chance orbs on Mountain Ledge (67) and Vaal Pyramid (68) for a chance at the unique maps.

I'm 72 and still doing Docks all day. Wondering if it's actually possible for someone to havea whole bunch of 75-77 maps and then hit a dry spot totally and have to go back to docks to grab 66 maps and work his way up.

Is grouping the only reliable way to ensure a steady supply of maps?

I got tired of doing docks so started a circuit. However I'm still unlucky with map finding. My marauder has found two maps so far and I think he's only 53 o 54 and just starting Merciless.

The circuit I do is:
Log in - go to normal act I ledge and get 9 zombies, go to merciless act III solaris temple and get three flame sentinels. Clear temple level three.
Go to Docks and clear zone.
Go to Lunaris level 2 and clear zone.
Repeat.
This has not netted me any new maps however, but at least it's not just docks, reset, repeat.
