Guild System
Hey there,
I think a game like Path of Exile which focuses heavily on the single-player experience needs some better social functions. - Global Chat is a spam-fest interrupted by currency bots - Trade Chat is a spam-fest littered with people asking ridiculous prices for 1alch uniques - Guild Chat is just a personalized chatroom - Guild Chest is clunky and has little functions There's no merit to joining guilds outside of chatting with people you care about. As I play SSF, there's even less merit outside of the chat part. What we really need is some actual things to look for in a guild. I don't have a great suggestion at hand, but I'd like to see some discussion around this. Maybe we can come up with a good suggestion? :) The opposite of knowledge is not illiteracy, but the illusion of knowledge. Last bumped on Apr 5, 2020, 3:53:07 PM

Well, I think GGG can adopt some of Warframe's ideas. The Dojo system is pretty neat. It requires everyone in the guild to work together, but not necessary to play together. ( I think Neverwinter also have a similar system, but daily quest driven. )
You can make certain recipes available to purchase, after unlocking it with currency that will need to be farmed. Anyone can farm this currency, and contribute towards unlocking the crafting recipes. This same system can be applied to numerous things. Boons that give a little buff to drop rates, etc etc. It's a pretty solid mechanic that won't require much, and will start making the Guilds feel like actual Guilds. "There he goes. In Guild Wars 1 there were guild halls that all guild members could go to and meet at. There were many layouts that didn't allow for customization but offered services you could unlock by spending ingame currency, like vendors offering special prices and vendors you would otherwise not see until later in the game if you made a new character.
I could imagine having a guild crafting bench and donating currency to the guild chest to unlock them. Having common goals to reach as a guild which an individual would not be able to on their own. Party play is already underwhelming in PoE, why not make guild interaction a thing? Also, having a guild hideout sounds like an awesome idea, right? Place to hang out at and maybe start mapping together? The opposite of knowledge is not illiteracy, but the illusion of knowledge.

If we had something like this I might stop blocking guild recruiters on sight

" That suggestion is older than my supporter packs! We definitely have to shake things up a little. Before I got put into the guild leader spot for my guild (old leader needed a break from PoE to play Fortnite & WoW Classic, that's been over a year now :P) I actually bought a couple tabs for the guild so people could share more stuff and also some more member spots. I noticed that if you buy tabs for your guild no one will be able to kick you out for a good while, so while I see the good intent in that, I also see an abusable system. In short: the current guild system needs a complete overhaul. It's ancient! If we shake things up, then we can have a go and see what else can be introduced. I think it's time. :) The opposite of knowledge is not illiteracy, but the illusion of knowledge.

" yes. the case we had at that time was that we wanted to dissolve a guild and have the remaining few members join another guild. it would have resulted in all stash tabs and char slots of the old guild being lost 8-) -- another issue has been that people didn't realise that putting something in guild stash is basically giving it away for free. it's still that way despite ggg putting protocols in place to watch players getting stuff, which just keeps their support department busy with the resulting complaints. fail! a guild stash where everybody keeps their stashes/guild slots attached to their account, can define with whom to share it and doesn't have to transfer ingame (rmt) points to the guild master's account to contribute to the guild would be perfect. age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill! " You could hand out a variety of guild tokens / a guild currency that can be traded to take out items from the guild stash. You could then sort items in guild chests into different categories. E.g. I'd love to have a unique guild stash tab and let the guild decide if they want to use it as a sharing place or try and complete a collection for example. Lots of good ideas come to my mind. I think Neverwinter has a guild stash system with tokens. Used to play that years ago The opposite of knowledge is not illiteracy, but the illusion of knowledge.
