Can you please explain what you need help with, in more details.
No idea what you are trying to explain here. Maybe screenshots?

--> Can be allocated without connection to the tree.
So you remove the points going there and then just allocate it.

You have to have a path to where you put in the jewel and only there.
The rest of the nodes can then be selected without a path.

First of all, you need to actually spend 1 passive point.
It's not "allocate for free"

That is why many people prefer it.
Happiness requires effort.

I have answered the exact same question in another topic today.
I'll quote me from there:

Thread of Hope works pretty much like a Intuitive Leap, only that it works with a unique "ring" radius rather than a "circle" one like the former.
This means:
- You still need points to actually allocate the nodes in radius you want to collect.
- You cannot un-socket it until you have allocated nodes in its radius that are not connected to your passive
- You can ONLY allocate nodes inside the radius. For example, socketing a Medium-size Thread of Hope near the Acrobatic cluster will allow you to allocate Phase Acrobatics, but not the acrobatic improvement small passive connected to it since it's not in the radius
Thread of Hope and Intuitive Leap mechanics are totally different from Unnatural Insticts one, which automatically allocates non-allocated passive in radius as long it is socketed, without using skill points
