So what even IS spam?
I'm once again asking this because I just don't get it. Because the reasons for which I, or anyone for that matter keeps getting muted from global don't make sense to me.
This time I got muted for, apparently, writing a joke (saying something along the lines that space isn't real and refferencing some stuff from Mage the tabletop RPG game from Whitewolf) using all the space I had to write (which ended up in a pretty long text that barely fitted in) because I assumed that writing such thing in many, smaller texts, would end up flooding the chat (You know, the usual definition of spam), to which I end up seeing a dude apparently spamming a bunch of dots, as it seems, to "drown out" my message. I, of course, answer this with reporting it as some clear way of spam. But turns out I get muted for 100 hours. To which I wonder, why are we even allowed to have access to an amount of characters that, if used will get us muted? What even IS considered spam? Is a long message spam? Are many, small messages spam? Or are we just subject to the whim of the current moderator? Because this inconsistency doesn't play out just for spam, its everything, it all seems so arbitrary it makes little to no sense. Yes, I understand that long messages like the ones sent by spambots and the Toucan meme are disruptive given the size and amount of messages in such a short time, but that wasn't it. It was single (maybe two, I sent a single word after that because the last one was cut and i didn't want it to seem like a copypasta), organically written message that just said a bunch of inconsequential information, which arguably represents most messages in global. This is what I don't get, is this """Spam""" not okay just when under certain conditions that are you just supposed to know? Because apparently when you're making fun of even something in game, I've seen it go unpunished most of the time, to the point where there doesn't really seem to be a punishment. And when I mean its everything, it is everything. Politics fly left and right on global, and it also goes unpunished even when it devolves into some inflamatory and very unhelpful debate. Honestly, if the conditions are subjective to the moderator and or the one writing the report (which, from my perspective, still feels arbitrary) I'd rather be told that and be done with it and know that at any given point I can be muted because of reasons. you just got reported more than he did.
they probably dont launch a federal investigation to make sure everything is fair. once i talked shit about the bible, in a short and concise manner, and got insta muted. it's all about reports im pretty sure. *in the same vein ; you probably wouldnt have got muted if the majority of ppl actually were interested in your text or found it funny at all ;) at the end of the day, its all pretty random. you couldve said the same thing a few hours before and gotten different results. " GGG doesn't reply to post like this and normaly locks them pretty fast. All questions about their MOD teams action, account support / BANs and so on will have to be sent to them via e-mail. But yeah, you properly got reported from many people and that's why. |
