Tanky builds

Hello everyone,

Lately I have hit a wall, in finding a good tanky build to play.

I started the league with a ED witch, ended up scraping her because she didn't handle blighted encounters very well.

I started after with a golemancer that got me into red tiers, feels quite squish but the damage is good.

Now I started a coc ice nova assasin but I heard that this is pretty squish as well...

Can someone recommend a build that has end game potential and doesn't feel like a glass cannon , from the following classes : Witch , Ranger, Shadow, Scion .

I don't really like the naked bald boomer, the ugly guy and the pretty boy...

...Which are the tankiest classes - at least when it comes to life builds.

But you can't go wrong with a max dodge Raider. Gogogo!
Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.
Hi,

some classes are meant to be more tanky but it´s more about your build than anything else.
You need to find good balance between damage and defense.
You can try max dodge raider as Phrazz said or maybe smth with Scion.
Try to check some HC builds.
I've got a Consecreted Path Ascendant with dual Nebuloch that is pretty tanky, don't know if that's your kind of thing though. Profile is public, take a look if you like.

Generally though, the classes you like and their ascendancies aren't really suited for tankiness. The 3 ascendancies with the most tank potential are Jugg, Gladiator and Guardian.
Hey,

i started the League as a LL ED Contagion Trickster witch full Block and ES Recovery on Block, which is really great. Until now I did nearly every content quite easily.

I die from time to time to hard content, but at this point i play really offensive and dont care about the next level.

Good Luck
There are a lot of ways to get tanky, if you just mean dying less. Lots of good advice here already.

One thing I would add is that, for the majority of builds, more movement = fewer deaths. And fast movement = much fewer deaths. Of course this also requires damage that can take out mobs quickly on the fly. My Ice Nova Hiero (a bald guy you don't like) has 10k EH but is still a bit squishy if I stand still too long in high tier maps. As long as he's moving fast, he's fine.

It's not hard to build for speed with, say, an assassin or raider. But you also have to develop the habits to go with it. Keeping up both speed and damage, popping active defenses pro-actively, and having your "escape" mechanics to the point where you do them instinctively Tankiness is as much a function of how you train yourself to play a build as it is of the build itself.

Good luck!

played around 40 T16 maps since yesterday, each with 4 prime sextants, a fragment and bloodline mod.
died twice. once due to lag and once by overseeing phys reflection mod.

and im by no means an experienced player
+ im using facebreaker so im always facetanking.

Im bad at math.
Hello,

Thank you for the great advise . I started a Trapper build right now, switched from the COC ice nova build to an ES low life trapper.

I'll see how it goes.

To add to this thread maybe more people would like to read it, I know that the bald guy and the marauder are designed to be the bulkiest more tanky builds...But I just cannot get myself to play male chars....The Shadow is an exception as he has the coolest avatars ( yes yes, I know, we all have our little dudes on the brain).

I would have played Ascendant for the rest of my life in poe , if Scion would have gotten some love ...But for now there are a limited build archetype that the scion can excel in and I have tried almost all. Non crit Elemental Hit, Crit Elemental hit, Whipsering ICE cyclone, Totemist ...The only thing I didn't try was the HA one.

Too bad , GGG cannot implement female chars for every class, would make me switch to some other classes for a change :D.

From what I heard the trapper has quite some immunities , the damage to take the content and can get quite the ES with block and dodge on top.

I’d still consider ED/Contagion. I can kill Sirus deathless on Awakening 8. Trickster of course!

Here’s a video I did tonight for a friend of me face tanking Drox. Lots of DPS and really tanky.

If you’re interested in the build, let me know and I’ll link it to you!
Hello,

I already played ED's , but I find the mechanic to be bothersome for Blight encounters which I enjoy most.

I just can't seem to clear the packs in blight maps as I would want to , ending up by dying.

I know it's a great boss killer, but many builds can achieve that.
