The ones on the left help fill your bar. The ones on the right just kill you.

I am glad this game is about going slow and strategically fighting, having plenty of time to prepare and consider each encounter, and that everything in the screen is really clear to see, where each effect and monster has it's own colors and their effects don't overlap with the players effects.

Imagine if this was a game about going as fast as possible with a billion projectiles flying in all directions, where everything is monochromatic and monsters are appearing out of nowhere with random buffs and debuffs been trow around all the time. In such a game would be hard to have time to differentiate between this cocoons.
