What speaks against having the option to "appear offline" ?!
I see forum and reddit posts from 2013, seven years later there is still no option to appear offline ingame.
No im not talking about dnd, even cheap f2p mmorpgs manage to get this done. I mean from the Company side i get it, you want the players to be online, aviable for others, the picture of a alive and healthy game and community, but idk, sometimes players dont want to be bothered, sometimes we lie to our girlfriends/boyfriends, sometimes we call in sick to play a league start, lets be honest here, i dont see any cons of giving us a option to chose if we appear online or offline, has nothing to do with botting or any kind of shady stuff, just the personal choice for privacy like in almost every other game and platform. Let me know what you guys think. i hope you get my point im not a native english speaker lol. Last edited by Kane1992#4488 on Mar 14, 2020, 10:37:01 PM Last bumped on Nov 26, 2021, 5:38:25 AM

" DND...don't say it's an option and then run around the corner screaming it's not... " ...and how would they know you're playing PoE (other than also being a player)? Don't play...and don't lie. If they're pestering you than...DND. " Your boss plays PoE and/or can check your online status from his work location? See previous reply : don't lie, or don't care. " I have never played any MMO that had an "appear offline" function...because you were online. turning your whispers off and not being in another persons friends list were the only options to not appear online. If you're trying to shoehorn SKYPE or some other chat program into this argument, stop...they're not games, you don't need privacy or to hide/lurk (LEA...) in a game like you may need in a chatroom, you need focus (which is what DND is for). |

I support this addition. Sometimes you just don't want to be bothered. And, DND is not sufficient enough. If someone sees you online and tries to whisper you, they'll notice your DND status and could respect the status or they'll try to contact you by other means (other chat program, phone call or text). Sure, you could be direct to the person that contacts you, but why deal with the hassle and risk of upsetting that person? Some people are very "hard" to deal with so it would be better to just not deal with it at all.

" I get the function of Dnd, you dont get my Point of view though. Also read my first post, i already said i dont care About dnd because DND is not OFFLINE. Also, i dont get your message, other than qouting me and pointing out dnd a few times you dont haven brought one good Argument, dont Reply if you plan on posthunting or spamming here. What would speak against a simple appear offline function ingame for privacy. Im hoping for an answer from the officials on this Topic Last edited by Kane1992#4488 on Mar 15, 2020, 5:01:07 AM

+1
Would be great to have. And as you point out many mayor / important games support this. |

"Appearing offline isn't new in an MMORPG. Solo playing in an MMORPG without getting messaged or bothered at all is what appearing offline is for not too sure why its still not in the game after 7 years. |

I'm also supporting this feature cause sometimes we want to chill listening to music and maybe this seems an excuse to some just to not playing with them or to not log in discord/ts etc...
DND is a good feature to not being disturbed by annoying whispers while you are doing some pretty rough content but not enough for some people it seems. |
