Spellslinger + Spell Damage Leeched as Energy Shield

https://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Leech
"Multiple leech instance stacks and apply to the character simultaneously which will lead to the total life leech rate increasing. There is no limit in number of active leech instances but the total sum of leech rate is instead limited to 20% of maximum life per second. The extra healing over that cap will be ignored.[5] Reaching the max leech rate is quickly achieved when using an area of effect skill, a single hit that struck 10 enemies will result in 10 separate leech instances."

I think your understanding of the mechanic is incorrect?

Also as far as i can grasp, there is no leech whatsoever, 0. But it is really hard to test it on my character right now. I'll prolly try some different test conditions on a different one.
We read from the same source. Operating word in that source here is "ignored".

So let's get into detail how i understand it with an example with garbage numbers
I have 4k shield.
Max total energy leech 10%
Max energy leech per effect 10%
I have 2% energy leech.
I use arc and hit 6 targets and then run fuck off somewhere else until my leech effects run out.
i get :
1 hit for 1k
1 hit for 2k
1 hit for 3k
1 hit for 4k
1 hit for 5k
1 hit for 6k

I gain 6 leech effects that will leech each for 400 energy/s
1 effect that will last 0.05s
1 effect that will last 0.1s
1 effect that will last 0.15s
1 effect that will last 0.2s
1 effect that will last 0.25s
1 effect that will last 0.3s

Since they will run parallel to each other and one is enough to reach maximum total energy leech, only one will be "active" at a time, the other will be ingored but still run. So the total energy leech will run for as long as the last leech run.

Which means i will see effectively 400/s energy leech for 0.3s for a total of 120 energy shield.

Say you instead have a 50% increase in maximum total energy leech (ergo 600 energy/s), you would gain, with the same arc, 600 energy/s for 0.25s and then 400 energy/s for 0.05s.

Say you have 25% increased maximum energy/s leeched per leech effect and otherwise base maximum total, well, witness the glory :
I would gain 6 leech effects that will leech each for 400 energy/s
1 effect that will last 0.04s
1 effect that will last 0.08s
1 effect that will last 0.12s
1 effect that will last 0.16s
1 effect that will last 0.20s
1 effect that will last 0.24s
For a total of 96 energy leeched.

My opinion is that if you use any leech, there's a distinct possibility
you might not notice the effect, especially with a high enough shield. If you want to "see" something, lower that shield by any mean necessary. Though im not sure that i actually understood exactly how it works. If you do any testing, i'm genuinely interested in the results.

Hi,

I am running a Kinetic Bolt Elementalist to trigger a couple Spellslinger linked spells Wave of Convivtion and Glacial Cascade, neither hit very hard, nor do I have a high es value.

What I did do however was have a Energy Leech Support (4) which gives 1,6% damage leeched has es linked to the Wave of Conviction setup.
Got on the enemies face, wait for es to drop and hit them. No Leech, ZERO, NADA, enemies die and after a little bit the es regens normally. Please notice WoC is only hitting for 1k, but it does hit a ton of enemies.

So I linked the Energy Leech Support (4) and linked it with Kinetic Bolt.
Disabled all spellslinger spells and use only Kinetic Bolt.
Next pack, get in their face, wait, hit them, and... drum rolls please... Energy Leech Works. Kinetic Bolt is hitting for 2k, so maybe that's the diference.

Reworked the links and got WoC on self cast, still only doing around 1k.
Find a pack, wait, hit them, and again es gets leeched, I can see it clearly.

Another thing not working is iteractions with some uniques.
Glacial Cascade is a Cold skill, Wave of Conviction is a Fire skill.
If I equip a Heatshiver Leather Hood (helmet) and self cast them alternately, I get the bonus damage from the helmet correctly.
If I use a dual poets pen setup to cast this two alternately, I get the bonus damage from the helmet, so far so good.
Guess what happens when you use Spellslinger ?
YES, you are correct, nothing, NADA, ZERO, no bonus, maybe this is as intended but I do suspect a bug.

Another thing I suspect is... drum rolls... GGG doesn't look at this forum :(

Later Exiles, safe hunting!!
