Spellslinger + Spell Damage Leeched as Energy Shield

I'm the least expert in PoE mechanics, but in an hour of googling, I can't find the answer to this one.
I have SpellSlinger setup to cast Arc and Freezing Pulse. I also have the node Light Eater. Light eater gives 0.8% Spell Damage Leeched as Energy Shield. These two mechanics are not working in combination. Despite good hits from both spells, I am not leeching any Energy Shield. Some casual googling tells me that Trigger + Leech works in other context, including poet's pen and CoC setups. Thank you for the assistance, Deku Last bumped on May 12, 2020, 9:14:34 AM

I think your damage isn't high enough yet to notice leeching. |

It doesn't work for me too. Should have 1,3 % spell damage leech and 0,2 % lightning damage leech to energy shield and it doesn't leech anything at all w/ Arc and Wave of Conviction. 6k tooltip and 15k tooltip dmg respectively (probably much higher real DPS). Bug or intended mechanic or too low dmg? Not sure.

" I tested it as well. Got 2% leech and got 6000K damage/hit. I still don't leech at all. It isn't a rounding error. Its a bug. |

I'm experiencing the same issue with spellslinger VD setup. It's a big for sure unless it's intended for the gem.

How much is your energy shield? Es leech default is 10% from your max es. If your es is low then the leech is really small.

Got anybody some feedback from GGG about this bug?

I actually got my spell slinger to 90 and gave up. With 10K ES and 8% regen, I just couldn't get the survivabilty I was after. I haven't seen a response.

I'm actually not sure it's a bug.
But it still is an issue in my opinion; The issue being that the base value of energy leeched per leech effect and maximum total energy leeched are equals. If my understanding of the mechanic is correct, it means that every energy leeched beyond the first effect is discarded, not queued. Says Dekunuts hits a pack with arc at 2% leech and hit multiple targets for 6k each he will leech 120 shield and that's all. Or to be more specific, he will leech 2% of his highest damage done. It should happens also pretty much instantly because i assume his energy shield should be pretty high too. Soooo... Works as intended. Yet, Since most spells hit multiple targets it kinda ruins the effect, also, makes every effect that increases maximum energy leeched per leech effect counterproductive (it shorten leech effects and increases the amount of discarded energy). It makes the energy leech support gem pretty much anti synergic with any multiple hit effects, and its damage component hard to benefit from. I hope that helps.
