Steam client and standalone client at the same time

Hi!

Can I have both the standlone client and the steam client be installed simultaneously?

I usually play with steam, but my internet is too slow to download the patch via steam before a league starts. I don’t want to be late for the next league start.
Can install the standalone client in addition to my steam client and use the torrent thingy to start downloading the new league content earlier than steam allows me?.
In the long run I’d like to stick with steam.

How do I solve this issue?

Sure, that is not a problem. You just have to follow this guide from GGG and then you can use both clients -->

If you created your Path of Exile account via Steam, it will not have an associated email address on our end.

Yes, you can have BOTH clients installed at the same time, just do not run 'em BOTH at the same time to avoid massive conflicts.

I personally ONLY recommend having the STANDALONE client installed, as that is a bit smaller than the Steam version, has NO issues patching, and can pre-patch (which improves performance slightly and helps with script lag.)

I managed to get the standalone client installed and working.


How exactly does the pre-patch-download work? All I could find was "there will be a torrent".

Where will I be able to find that "torrent" what do I need to do? Is any additional downloading software required?
