Delirium - Another LAG AF 0.5 FPS league?

The league is not even started that people already are complaining

Blight league also haven't started at the point where people were concerned and made posts, I remember I made a post beforehand like I made this.

Blight turned out to be utter performance crapfest.

People have all right to be concerned.

Even worse, some properly untested POE 2.0 codes and systems, we're at it again. We are the alpha testers for this, NOICE :D

Well, basically this fog is something to be concerned about.

I think if I've seen correctly the devs in the trailer even use dynamic resolution feature and even then it seems to be stuttering a little...

Prepare to annihilate your GPU's? (hopefully I'm wrong)

Potential another league skip:D

PC Invasion:
Path of Exile: Delirium focuses on mist-shrouded locales. Knowing how special effects in the game can be a detriment to performance and framerates, how will this impact players from a technical standpoint?

Chris Wilson:
The fog effect in Path of Exile: Delirium won’t slow things down since we’ve added that in a smart way. Aside from that, it’s the sheer quantity of monsters onscreen that may affect performance. All of the monsters in the game would require calculations to be done for their attacks or defense. However, because Delirium is a league where you’ll be fighting lots of monsters, there will be lots of things going on, and there may, potentially, be moments that affect performance.

We do have to be vigilant about this. We don’t want to lower the number of monsters just because we’re afraid of how it’ll affect performance. The goal is to improve performance and have awesome combat with lots of monsters. Also, our team has been making strides league after league to improve performance, the time it takes to make calculations, CPU usage, graphical changes, and subtle tweaks to the game’s engine.

I think it could have been implemented in none ways and performance would not take any impact. In fact making this feature on/off or refrain from graphical changes/additional visual stuff during encounters would be FTW.

A SMART WAY... OK LET'S SEE. :)

Yes and you still don't allow us to turn off shadows to boost FPS yet you acknowledge this possible problem.

"We do have to be vigilant about this. We don’t want to lower the number of monsters just because we’re afraid of how it’ll affect performance."

Nobody asked you to, let us tweak graphics to our appropriate personal level, like turning off shadows for starters. You not only don't wanna find a solution for a screen clusterf*ck in your game but you also force visual features on top of it, which is a bigger problem than quality of league due to the content like number of monsters for example. WTF logic, let's burn players hardware, murder fps bla bla with crap visuals most players don't need apart from all the crap on screen that is already there.

Actually, this statement is so bad and selfish... Wow Chris. We will make gazillions of stuff happening on the screen along with calculations and other mambo jumbo and we don't care how will our own engine and your system run it. After all, it's not we go gonna play this game, be happy :D

Chris Wilson said... Believe Chris less, after tencent stuff this person is no longer the same.

Actually PoE is not GPU intensive, it's the CPU that's being rapped by the game.

Yup. Just upgraded from an FX-8320 to a Ryzen 3600 running the same 1060 card. Smooth as butter now.
YUP there is still clown fps fiesta, even on new pc's.
90 minions on - screen no problem.
5 random monsters spawned from delirium portal - 2 fps...
since this games graphics are rather poor it baffles me how it gets such ugly fps drops every time it gets a bit crowded

i hope it has nothing to do with the 3 month dev cycle for new leagues which certainly dont affect quality control and the "smoothness" of the code running this game..

yeah I really hope!
Anyone know a word stronger than "catastrophic" or "disastrous" ?
