Guild Wars, Wolcen, And How GGG Can Learn From It
" That's why I used Tukohama and Kitava as examples of visual markers already being applied for their more powerful attacks. There are ways to put down visual markers of a huge hit coming that doesn't look like it shouldn't be there. " And if GGG is unable or unwilling to do something about the visual clutter making it difficult to see enemy attacks, then the other solution is to work with the current mess by making it clear they're about to drop a nuke on your face so you can dodge it. :P PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.
Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build! And the winds will cry / and many men will die / and all the waves will bow down / to the Loreley |

" I agree, but this eventually leads to escalation and more clutter :( This effect is super deadly bu wait we just added another even deadlier effect, so let's make it even more obvious, etc ... But making deadly effects well telegraphed is definitely needed, badly. SSF is not and will never be a standard for balance, it is not for people entitled to getting more without trading. For everyone saying, "But the voice lines tell you when an attack is going to happen."
There are certain people that are deaf. I know, crazy right? People that can't hear or are half deaf? Absurd! Visual queues are needed more than voice queues. |

" there is animation, but instead of half a second you have .1 second :) I guess deaf people have to play Divine Flesh Jugg to not give a crap about the incoming dmg. rory mentioned this, i believe in a podcast with ziggy and zeno way back, it was one of his appearances in the community at any rate.
he basically said you hope you can communicate a telegraph in a way that gets the message across to the player without it being, and i forget the term he used, but essentially without it being as crude as simply drawing a damage shape on the ground you dont stand in. poe has issues with clutter and the speed of engagements that make proper telegraphs really difficult atm. telegraphs are part of gameplay and really what gameplay is left at this point outside of some gated uber boss encounters? player enters room, there are 45 monsters in the room. in under 2 seconds either every monster will be dead, the player will be dead or the player will have logged out, during that blink of an eye the entire screen will be a complete mess of indistinguishable bullshit. thats 99% of this game right now. how do you fit some kind of meaningful telegraph/avoid mechanic in that situation? I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)
