Cast on Crit / Projectile / Pierce Question

Hello fellow gamers

I have a question regarding Cast on Crit.

Testing setup:

Let's assume I use the skill ensnaring arrow to shoot an Monster. In that example the shot has 100% pierce and 100% crit.

Behind the monster I shot is another monster.

Lets assume i linked the ensnaring arrow with Cast on CRIT and for example fireball.

So Question:

Can the the ONE shot trigger fireball TWICE? Since it crits and pierces the first and then crits the second monster?

OR

Can it trigger fireball only once per "skill use" and therefore eventough it crit's the second target cannot trigger it again?

I tried to replicate it ingame but could not really with my char.

And as a final question: How does it work when i use lets say add in GMP? Does it calculate the crit chance for each arrow? and then casts fireball 5 times / 10 times? [ofc we have ot assume that there are 5 perfect lined up Monster clusters :) ]

I hope its clear what I mean and that one can help out.

Best regards

I'm not sure about triggering two fireballs with one attack, but it looks like in either case the cooldown will limit you. Check out the Wiki:

"There is an internal cooldown to how fast spells can be triggered, as of patch 3.5 the cooldown is 150ms, or roughly 6 casts per second given optimal conditions."

The delay in cast speed on Fireball would probably mess with that as well.

cast on crit ignores the spell base cast speed.

which is why most CoC builds use either barrage or cyclone. they want the CoC to trigger as close to every 150ms as possible.
Well Yeah technicaly you can Proc it with an attack all 150ms thats correct. Also is cyclone a good way to achieve it since it attacks quite fast (everything above +- 6 attacks /s can produce feedback issues and triggers can be "skipped" but thats an different story.

The question is: can a skill with multiple projectiles trigger a supportet spell more then once? I tend to say yes. Since if you are using an aoe skill like for example blast rain one use can proc skills more then once (tested with bladevortex since there you can see the stacks quite well)

BUT: can a skill with secondary effect like for example uhmmmmm molten strike crit with the balls? and threrfore proc multiple casts. Or not.

And when we agree that they can, then it should be possible to proc more then one spell with a piercing and critting porjectile correct?

I suspect most projectile cover the screen so fast the time would interfere.

I have seen videos of one molten strike getting multiple casts between the melee strike and the balls, so I can confirm that appears to be possible. If attacks have different parts at different times that can crit separately, it appears possible.
Yeah i tested with pierce and a single shot like frenzy and sometimes i could manage to get 3 casts (in 98.9% of all shots it was 2 casts)

But then there are so many factors that count in and I cannot be sure that the conditions where perfect.

Like:
did every pierced hit crit?
was the third enemy "in line" of the other two
and so on.

BUT anyway that means its not a reliable way to "proc on crit" with pierced projectile.

You would be better of just increasing the attack speed of that particular skill or XY arrow. (as long as you stay in the 6.x - x.x Attacks per second depending on cooldown recovery gear or not.

Well thanks for everyone that thought about it and lets find out what the new clusters will bring us :D
