Why unique items are so useless?..

Not all of them, obviously, but the vast majority.
I don't even get excited anymore when unique drops. I know it will be a piece of trash.
All uniques I've found are cost 1c (or less). The only ones that cost more and are usable I had to buy. I assume they have micro-chances to drop, while all the trash is dropping non stop.
So I wonder why even have all that cluttering junk in the game? Shouldn't all uniques be at least somewhat usable and desirable? But now most of them are worse than any rare you might find in the same location.
Personally I would prefer much less uniques total, but all of them to be much better. Or different item gradation that would make whole unique mess more structurized.
So there was my feedback and here's a suggestion:

- Split all uniques into three categories loosely based on drop chances, to make some sense from all of this
- First one will contain the most common of "unique" items, let's keep calling them Uniques
- In second category will be more rare and usefull Artifacts
- And the third one will keep the most preacious and powerful Relics

Or it could be some kind of "tiers of uniqueness" to separate common trash from actual rarities. So tier 1 uniques will be the most unique and tier 10 (or whatever) uniques will be the least unique %)

How's that sounds? Is this makes any sense? To me it seems much more appealing. I wouldn't have any poroblems with such gradation system (even though the amount of useless uniques would stay the same).

Uniques aren't like legendary items in Diablo 2. They're unique in that they have unique mods you can't find anywhere else.

However, just because they're unique, doesn't mean they have to be strong.
PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.

Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build!

Idk. It seems totally unintuitive to me.
I see item gradation as normal -> magic -> rare -> unique and expect those uniques to be a top tier items (and some uniques definitely are). But the fact that most uniques here is complete trash and there are tons of them, which kinda ruins whole "unique" thing, is what bothering me.

You opinion really depends on the context of your gaming experience. If you are in standard and reached end-game, yes most uniques will have little to no value both on the market or to you personally. I use to feel the same way, but then I tried out leagues and began to reroll in a new economy, suddenly that low level items I just found is actually OP as shit and you get really excited!!! Or if you're in hardcore you get excited about uniques you know you can hold on to should you die. So your perspective on uniques needs context because if it's generic to the game as whole, none of what you're saying is actually true for the main player base.

I will say that an example of your "Relic" would be oh say a Bottled Faith? I mean it's gated behind layers of RNG as well as a difficult boss on top. So... if you want uniques of value they certainly exist so.. go forth and farm for them good sir!

a lot of uniques are player made ones and most of mods are from old content so kind of outdated.

GGG did some upgrades but there should be another ones soo

newly mods are getting released often and making rares more powerful

you can make a build around it and all of a sudden , once a trash item becomes far more valuable.

You got it right. 99% of so-called uniques are vendor food.

Yes, its not that fun and pleasant. Many of them are just like atavisms, nerfed items from past times, other ones just lvling ones.

Problem is they are legions and drop in endgame too. This is counterfun yea. Useless stuff. Kinde wanted this to be addressed, but it seems no one cares enough.. :/

I always thought that rares were the end all end-game items, even over build enabling uniques because you can always cater the exact stats that you want in your rares and you can min/max them to your style.

Awesome for leveling with fire spells, what's wrong with it?
Organic chemistry is a weird thing. If you add a spoon of shit to a barrel of jam you'll get a barrel of shit.
The thing that bugs the hell out of me is how the drops repeat. For example, this sword
was introduced in 2.3 and I didn't even know it existed. This league it's dropped for me three times. According to the unique tab there are 939 uniques in the game and I have 359 in standard. I understand some are gated but I've been playing this game since closed beta. It seems every league once certain uniques start dropping the same ones are going to drop en masse. What's the point of buying a unique tab if the same ones are going to drop all the time and as the OP stated a lot are useless and probably just get vendored?
Arguing on the Internet: What's the point when you can't punch them in the face when they really piss you off?
