The Safehouse has been abandoned

I did part of the Jun mission in a map, and I got enough progress to open the safehouse. I opened the safehouse in a map (i just clicked the button absent mindedly, id rather open it in my hideout). When the portals spawned i clicked on the cards on the ground for other members, and after doing that i saw the button to open the safehouse turn into an empty progress bar. I then went into the safehouse portals and it was empty and my progress was lost. The quest text on the right said that the safehouse has been abandoned, and there was no member to kill inside.

If you do anything to your syndicate board while a safe house is open the members will escape. This is intended to prevent manipulations and problems with an already spawned instance.

Thats fine but how is anyone supposed to know that? Its so easy for this to happen accidentally and it completely looks like a bug.
Well, it might not be something people think about but it should be kinda obvious. Any encounter depends on results of previous encounters and starting a new encounter ends any previous encounter.

I agree fully with SquidTea. I misclicked on my safehouse leader when finishing an encounter in a map and lost all that progress with the safehouse. Seems like a bug to me. If it can be exploited make it impossible to click on them to trigger the encounter don't punish a player for a misclick.

Clicking on the member in a map wouldn’t lose all progress to the safehouse unless you opened the portal to the safehouse. You’d have to talk to Jun and open the safehouse. And if you did that, you should have entered that portal and done the safehouse at that time. Otherwise it’d be like saying you put a map in the map device and opened it and then complaining the map was lost when you put another map in the device and opened another one.

I mean, that's exactly what I just did. And it feels pretty crappy to have lost 3 maps worth of syndicate progress for what isn't even really a misclick. The syndicate interface popped up just where I happened to be trying to move to while in a map. Why is that even a possibility? Just force Jun's safehouse instances to be spawned from a hideout. Easy fix.
