How Do People Get 30k Energy Shield?

It's not as rare as one might think to see 20k es builds that do almost 7 figure dps. Most of the top hc players have a build that looks like that. This is kind of what makes es unfair -- you can prevent most surprising 1 shots with this massive ehp and still do damage.

And if we are counting supports, then it's REALLY easy to hit 20k es even on these giga glass cannon builds.

It can be.
But one thing you not said.
The cost of this is so cosmical.
Suppose only .0001% of players can built such a chars. Tho, its not new. So why worry.

the cost of building a half decent strength stacking build isn't that bad. You can gradually get there. If you choose to use minions you even have the guaranteed damage along with it. Even with the zombie nerf you can run zombies, skeletons, animate guardian and a couple specters and plow through all content. Heck even my noob semi low level alt has 13k+ energy shield and I am missing the clarity watcher's eye and lots of strength% corruptions.

Once you get the character level to generate enough flat strenght those %strength items really starts to build up.

The only issue with these builds... they are soooooooo boring to play.

I can't bring myself to play the traditional undead army zookeeper necromancer, it bores the piss out of me. I'm playing MI/SRS and it's barely interactive enough to keep me going. I've rerolled multiple times out of boredom but necros are so powerful right now everything else feels pointless.

With guardian its pretty easy to get 20k ES, also dps is fine.
