Asphyxia's Wrath// Bane

Can someone explain to me why Asphyxia's Wrath Does not spread bane...
It is a curse. I made a build after I found this item was excited for bane to have prolif and then it just does not work.

because bane is not a curse even though it has the curse tag -->

Bane is an active skill gem that applies a debuff to enemies in an area, which deals Chaos Damage over Time. Linked curses are also applied to those enemies. The debuff deals more damage and lasts longer for each curse applied this way. Bane does not count toward the curse limit, but the curses it applies do.
