Is it worth it to upgrade Quality on Ice Spear?

I have a Q18 Ice Spear and when i put it instead of my normal Ice Spear the dps on my tooltip stays the same (both gems r same lvl) Is it a tooltip error or is it worthless to upgrade quality on Ice Spear?
Also is it worth it to pick the crit and crit chance nodes? how about the freezing nodes? on the skill tree Planning on goin a dual totem ice spear, but currently at lvl 34 my dmg is low and i have all the +cold dmg nodes |

Increased quality on ice spear just adds additional projectile speed, so its rather lackluster. Don't know what gems you use, but totems really need increased cast speed & (lesser or greater) multiple projectiles before they start to dish some serious damage. Also, consider using traps for some additional damage & utility (since you can still do damage with them even if you have the dual totem passive)
The freezing nodes are mostly worthless from my experience since you should be freezing pretty much constantly with all the crits from ice spear. Grabbing a few crit chance nodes are very useful against fast mobs, which are difficult to keep at a sufficient distance for ice spear's second form. |

" The rate you cast it remains the same so DPS is unaffected. There are other advantages though in your spears getting to their target quicker. Example: if target is running towards you, there is a better chance spear will hit it in second (+600% crit) form more often, so it is an indirect DPS increase. Did you know level 91 is the halfway point to level 100? This means that a softcore character dying ONCE at level 85+ can lose many days of progress. doesnt the projectile speed make the range at which it reaches 2nd form longer? similar like freezing pulse.
If so, then it's actually more benificial to have a non quality ice spear IGN - Kanamesan, Saitousan, Hatsusan (standard). Send me a PM in game or on forums if i win an auction

" No. Ice Spear changes form at a set distance from the caster.
