Holy shit bro welcome to the internet lol.

Most a-holes online are infact a-holes IRL too,

Actually most people are just assholes to begin with. Or at the very least self absorbed.

With fake Facebook accounts, finstas, twitter burner accounts, and all kinda of shit, this dude out here asking for PoE account to be a true reflection of their real life. People posting about how they are a developers irl, or a scientist, or a lawyer, my bro works for blizzard, or whatever the fuck else.

Seriously gfto with that trash. It's an online forum lol.

see and we all are having an online conversation, nothing serious lol. The forum reflect ourselves even if we dont notice it. Like me Im a pessimist and a pain in the ass sometimes and talk too much, getting old didnt helped with these "qualities" so yeah.

Anyway on this topic I too have very low tolerance with "hacking tools" or cheat in general and although I didnt reported I fully agreed that these kind of things are not good and is a tin line between this and worst bots out there.

Pretty much the same. I'm way more skeptical and "negative" online becuase there is so much bs.

I may have jumped the gun here on the cheating tools, but at least I did eventually look it up and post an answer.

Which is more than most did tbh. (Playful banter aside)

Of course it's allowed. It's an overlay which has nothing to do with map hacking or any kind of interfering with the game. SSS (the guy behind compass) runs the lab each day and marks the spots, sometimes not too exact, but enough for you to get the idea where to go. The man is doing God's work.
Lab compass helps quite a lot for those that run lab 1st time or farm it casually.

I need a compass to help me navigate going up and right. Just kidding. I'm actually good at the lab :)
It's shit though, once you're inside more often than not it'll be like Google route planner from NY to Paris:

"Hop in a kayak and paddle for 950 mi until you get to Brest, FR"

and you are on the opposite end of the room from the compass dot and the door right in front of you says "Aspirant's Trial" but the compass thing is either frozen or the dot is 3 screens away.

It looks to be the same things as what you could pull up on a separate window, just in overlay fashion instead. Nothing wrong with it. Note that GGG’s official policy is to not recommend any overlay because they cannot guarantee it won’t be used in a manner that’s a ToS violation, but given it doesn’t interact with the game at all, they won’t ban for it.

The spirit behind the ToS is to not give an advantage to anyone using the tool, but again this looks safe enough, Similar tool, Yolomouse, is much more advantageous, and there is a reddit post with Chris saying it’s fine to use.
It's a great tool for reinforcing runs when coupled with knowledge of lab layouts. A lot of the tiny maps provided will have extra twists and turns that just aren't describable on such a small interface.

Part of the reason why I enjoy pushing for top 10 / 5 uber lab leaderboards on a regular basis with some builds is that it reminds me a lot of muscle memory layout recognition in D2. It feels so good to enter a tile and just be like, "Ah ha, it's this room and I need to take this obscure path through it so I don't hit a dead end!"

Lab Compass makes memorising a long lab a more achievable prospect for speedrunning purposes, but I digress.

My case is fringe, and honestly it just saves a lot of tabbing out to look at the map on the webpage which I guarantee you 99% of non masochistic players who actually know poelab.com exists will do anyway.

But yeah, it's known, it's respected, and it's explicitly allowed by GGG so don't worry about it OP.

Most of us already knew about this tool because it's been around for literally years.

The only 3rd-party tool I've ever used was a TCP logout macro, but I'm more than familiar enough with what's out there to trivially identify what's violating the ToS and what isn't, and it's pretty goddamn fucking obvious that a tool that merely tells you the lab layout (which is not in any universe the same as the map data for the lab rooms) is fine.
