Abyssus vs the Awakener is not a good idea!

Encounterd Sirus for the first time but got recked for a couple reasons:

1. I'm melee with poor life reg and only decent leech.

2. I didn't face him at a low Awakener level, bad call when it was my first time.

3. I had Abyssus on.

Didn't realize it would be a big deal, have killed all bosses up to this point with ease.
Neither fortify, arctic armor, endurance charges or armor does anything vs dmg over time. Meanwhile Abyssus raises that dmg by 40%+
That together with it being and overall messy fight(especially for melee) made it nightmare.
Also worst boss design ever, but I guess that has already been said many times.

So Abyssus seems out of the question.
But its a shame since it is a item that can boost dmg by quite alot.
IDK feels like when GGG overall design bosses they don't really take melee into account. Why can't fortify work vs dots aswell for example? Or make abyssus extra dmg taken be only from hits.

Abyssus is from an era of uniques that had clear tradeoffs, i wish they had kept this design xD. Nowadays unless you are playing some facebreaker shenanigan i don't think abyssus payoff is worth it vs any 40% inc enchanted helmet with much better stats.
It's a Jugg helm and only a Jugg helm IMO.
#1 and #3 together usually dont result in any reasonable performance in tough encounters.

The difference between "increased" damage, and "more" damage is significant.

A lab enchant vs abyssus is a night and day comparison from a math & damage standpoint.

My current character has more than 9400 hp, more than 12000 armour, 7 endurance charges, constant fortify, more than 2200 life regeneration with all endurance charges and with nothing, more than 1600. Fire resistance 88% and the other two at 76%

Even so I wouldn't use Abyssus, I'm not crazy.
Bethesda is known for having good ideas and terrible realization of them. GGG is a Bethesda subsidiary or what?

The thing is, rares nowadays can get so insane that the tradeoff for anything but a build-enabling or clearly chase unique is "not being able to use a rare in the same slot".

It's still a healthier economy than, say, D2's "these uniques are BiS for dps and also give you 40 to all resistances because of course they have to". And I say that as someone who still loves D2 :P
melee items only have trade-offs, ranged items are free to dps without trade-offs.

I agree to this. Only Juggs are the only ones that can handle Abyssus coming to endgame. But even I wouldn't dare using on big daddy.

Yeah, i am not saying the DPS would be the same just that if you are dead your DPS is 0 lol
