Crashing a lot with Headhunter since the new patch

I've been crashing with Headhunter frequently since the new patch. Before I never had any problems except when breaking generals out of legion spawns. Now I crash whenever the game feels like it.

It happens more frequently with legion + beyond zana mods, and it happens a lot in legion timeless conflicts, 2-3-4-5 way battles. It happens more frequently in the timeless conflicts when I kill bosses, while being next to them, to alleviate this issue I have to snipe them off screen. If I snipe the bosses off screen I don't crash. I don't know if this is part of the issue, but I feel like whenever I kill a certain mob with a certain buff, and it's on screen, I crash.

This issue is extremely frequent, but it's also on and off, sometimes it takes a few maps for me to crash, other times its every other map.

Happens alot to me too

5 way legion battles i'm sure i'm gonna crash (game just closes, no error popup) and it happens occasionally in delve.

I notice it happen more when there are others in my party. Solo i see it happen alot less. In a party it's very iffy, doesn't take long.
This is a Lightning arrow/Ice shot/Tornado shot/Barrage issue. The solution is to change your networking mode to lockstep. GGG has acknowledged this issue here https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2737903 but no updates since then.

Another user said to use --noasync, but it didn't work for me.

This is NOT a lockstep/predictive issue. This is exclusively a "not using --noasync" issue.

Then why am I crashing significantly less on lockstep than on predictive? I did try --noasync and it didn't work.
it crashes like crazy, would be great if GGG can fix their game, its annoying going into same map 4 times and getting my hh stacks back all over again and sometimes not even being able to finish the map after all those crashes... makes me really want to leave for a better game everytime.
