Lightning Arrow: Less 'electric arrow' and more 'lightning'.
|
You know how lightning arrow targets 3 other enemies and just directly hits them?
Yeah, we all know it hits way too many targets too fast, causing ridiculous shock stacking. That, and it really doens't have much "lightning" to it other than the animation. For what it's worth, there's not much really "Lightning" about it. However, removing this property from it to bring it in line would make the skill much less interesting, so i propose a 'nerf' (not necessairly a nerf if you use it well) that actually makes it MORE interesting. Anything that is one of the "extra" targets should gain a lightning charge, that can be stacked up to a certain number, and potentially increase by levelling the gem. These charges would have a timer that, once is fully counted down, causes the enemy to be struck by a bolt of lightning. Naturally more charges = stronger lightning bolt. Have the timer start as soon as they get their first charge, and not be refreshed by granting additonal charges. Multiple charges increases the power of the lightning bolt, rather than striking the target multiple times. Notable Changes - AoE Damage becomes capped, while per-arrow damage remains the same - Significantly less attacks per second on the "extra" enemies, meaning only the enemies you're directly hitting will be getting substantial shock stacking NOTE: DO NOT post with simply "support" or "not support". This thread is about more than just this suggestion, it is about this skill in general and ways that it could have its power adjusted without taking away what makes it Lightning Arrow (Or like ive said, adding something to it to make it REALLY a Lightning arrow as opposed to an Electric one) Instead, post with ways of improving/balancing the idea, or other potential alternatives. I suggest stacking the lightning charges on the initial melee target instead and when a certain amount of time/charges have been reached, it zap out, arc-style, lightning to nearby enemies. Kinda like explosive arrows, for melee, and force melee. No more free LMP crap.
Please pardon my bad english

" Sounds like you're talking about lightning strike, not lightning arrow. However, for lightning strike, i REALLY like that idea. Last edited by Xendran#1127 on Mar 19, 2013, 6:20:48 AM

" Not particulary against, but: Would timer reset once new charge applied?. Would lighting strikes derive from weapon damageand support gems? Would charges able to spread on each monster hit,or like with explosive arrow only on last one/ground. Looks very similar to explosive arrow if you ask me. Would like something that is good with mines. |
|
" It's a good idea either way, maybe start up a separate thread for it? " Already addressed, there is no timer reset. " It would deal your standard lightning arrow damage just like the current one does, but it would be capped off due to having a cap on the number of possible charges. " Each hit, just like current lightning arrow works. Only on last hit with a modification that changes the damage and dynamic this much would actually nerf it into the ground and make everybody switch over to Rain of Arrows. " It is. They can add new skills that work well with mines, you should make a thread and suggest some. Last edited by Xendran#1127 on Mar 19, 2013, 6:27:28 AM

I kinda not really liked that spells and attacks lost their AoE on penetration. At least spells they not scale too well. But I guess it is not bad idea if costwouldbe cheaper. lvl 10 split arrow costs less and don't really vains in comparison to LA unless you have static blows. You get GMP with 80% effeciency instead of just 70%. And it works pretty good with life leach.
As for lighting strike used it not so alot and wasn't really impressed with marauder, was good as backup skill I guess. Haveno experience to say how good it could be and weather it needs rework. |

I don't have enough experiene with LS to say.

Well, perhaps a bit OT, but isn't the main problem with the lightning skills just shock (and abuse thereof)? I mean it's a bit hard to ignore more than double damage.
I still think shock needs a nerf, the spiking and ways to abuse it is a bit much imo, a bunch of the lightning skills could be buffed after that, some need buffs regardless (shock nova anyone?). |
|
" Lightning arrow is still ridiculous without shock... and didn't you read that this also prevents the shock issue from being as extreme? |
