Here is how you craft Tailwind + Elusive boots for under 5ex
There is a ton of misinformation being spread around by streamers right now on how crafting works. You CAN still make amazing items, they're just a lot harder to make. Here is how you deterministically make Tailwind + Elusive boots post-hotfix. The same process can be used to craft any insane combination of influence mods.
1. Buy ilvl86 boots of your choosing, Two-Toned boots are usually the best choice. 2. Buy a Redeemer's Exalted Orb and apply it to your boots. (Optional but a good idea to save a little cash: Make sure your boots have full suffixes beforehand so your boots have a better chance of rolling elusive prefix.) 3. If your boots rolled Elusive, they're ready! If not, scour them and alt spam them until you hit Elusive. The other mod can be nothing or anything so long as it isn't another Redeemer affix. 4. Buy Hunter boots where Tailwind is the only Hunter mod, or buy any old Hunter boots with ilvl75+ and alt spam it on yourself. This is a rare mod so you're going to spend 70c+ in alts to get it probably. The closer to ilvl75 the boots are the better because the affix pool has fewer affixes in it and the mod you want is ilvl75. 5. Now you should have 1 pair of Redeemer's ilvl86 Two-Toned Boots with Elusive where the only Redeemer mod on them is Elusive, and one pair of Hunter influenced boots with Tailwind where the only Hunter affix is Tailwind. Use an Awakener's Orb on the pair of Hunter boots, then apply to the Redeemer's boots. You now have a pair of ilvl86 dual-influenced Two-Toned Boots with the Elusive mod, the Tailwind mod, and 4 random mods!! Item costs at current prices: Redeemer's Exalted Orb 1.3ex Awakener's Orb 2.1ex ilvl86 Two-Toned Boots 20c Hunter Tailwind boots ~100c Spamming alts on Redeemer boots if necessary ~20c Total cost of manufacture: ~4.5ex Feel free to repost this on Reddit without credit I don't care. I worked through the cheapest method myself after seeing Voc's post about how the orbs worked. " The part most people don't get is the specific way the Awakener's Orb works. It takes one single influenced mod from the source and one single influenced mod from the target item. This allows you to make a finished product on the base you desire with two specific mods you desire. This is incredibly powerful even after the hotfix. You don't get 3/4 incredible mods like before, but locking two GG mods is undeniably still powerful. I didn't understand it myself when the hotfix came out and it made me livid, but now I can see that crafting is still amazing and within the capabilities of regular players to accomplish. |

Ahh, so it reforges while keeping 1 of each influence mods. And if you only have 1 of each influence mods, it has to bring them both.

So i crafted this boots, with a redeemer exalted orb to get the elusive mod and a awakener orb for the tailwind mod.
1. This is my second league of PoE, i joined in Blight when there was 11 days remaining for it to finish. I wanted some guidance here. I started using poedb website to simulate and i see that i can use fossils to get the other mods i want without loosing this 2 mods i crafted right? 2. Is it possible to get both cold and fire resistance on this boots through fossil crafting? Because, according to poedb, fossil say more cold modifiers no fire modifiers, which means i can only get either fire or cold resist not the 2 of them? 3. I basically wanted to put in this boots mov speed, max life, fire+cold resist and then tinker a bit with enchantment fossils to get a good enchantment for my build. Any help is appreciated thank you! ![]() Also thank you a lot for the advice on how to make tailwind+elusive boots but i think i screwed up cause i cant craft tier 1 good mods on them and keep those 2 influenced mods? You can't use fossils that would reroll the entire item and break it. The point of crafting it this way is that it's near impossible to get those two mods together via normal crafting because their weights are so low.
Those boots aren't that bad. Craft movement speed on them and you're good to go. Since one prefix is taken up by elusive it's tough to get life + movement speed (or one rolling naturally, one open prefix to craft the other) on them. Them's the breaks unless you have a time machine to go back before they patched out being able to use metamods to lock affixes. |

Craft mana, slam with exalt. Then craft movement speed if there's no movement speed. If you slammed movement speed, then craft life. If neither it's your choice, you can always craft back.
