I used to use MoM with my necros, until 3.7 removed the mana nodes behind it, which made it much harder to get enough mana to make it viable, and also introduced Flesh and Stone and the guard skills. Now I stack Armour and use Molten Shell, which has the advantage of taking me into the Marauder part of the tree where I can pick up lots of Life and Soul of Steel. I also get to use Vaal Molten Shell to effectively quadruple my Life when I really need to.
