Don't get higher tier maps
|
Hi guys,
I really struggle to understand how this atlas stuff works. By now I've got 8 watchstones by doing the Kirac - Zana stuff and my atlas looks like this ![]() I placed them in different locations but I still get T1-T6 maps as a drop (sometimes when I am really lucky a T7 one) What did I wrong? Kinda annoying running this low level crap :( Last bumped on May 8, 2020, 9:41:02 PM

similar rules as before the atlas rework still apply, so maps will be only able to drop one tier higher maps (magic and rare monster) and +2 from a map boss
so, you should run the highest maps available and use also other things, like buying maps from Zana, doing her missions (she often offers missions one tier higher than the map she is in), temple of atzoatl, etc.. you seem to completely ignore master missions.. I see, nearly skipped the whole last season so I should go back and read the stuff that came with 3.8 (and 3.9 for changes)
Master missions are the one on the right side? The "Atlas Missions"? |

yes you should have all of the masters in your hideout, click them and select "atlas mission".. they all provide extra content = monsters to kill = more maps dropped.. especially Zana is very useful during early map progression. Not only that she gives you free maps to run, she also refreshes her inventory after completing her mission (I think once per day and on some special endgame quest progression events)

Hello,
First of all, maybe it's a mistake to put watchstones on your Atlas so early. Because watchstones raise maps' lvl. If you're at T6, you'll never get T7-8 maps if the domain is formed by T14+ maps because of watchstone. Secondly, playing a T6 map that have a different lvl in your Atlas by a watchstone will drop no map. Better to play without watchstone first to raise higher map probability. Then put watchstones. And take care to play only map of the lvl on current state of your Altas. Last edited by Leplumieux#5342 on Feb 15, 2020, 3:43:19 PM

"No, it stays t5. There are several constraints for map planning. As previously mentioned, the rules for max tier of drop in a given map have not changed. So if you are running a tier n map, it cannot drop higher than tier n+2. New constraint in the new atlas is that a map can only drop the tier that is showing in the atlas. Since watchstones determine the map tier that is showing, you have to manage your watchstones. For example, if you are going for t7 maps, you will want to be running t5-7 maps. AND, you must have t7 maps showing in the atlas. If all your regions have either no stones or 3 stones, you will have no t7 maps showing and will never drop a t7 map. You can certainly run a t5 map in a region where that map is showing as, say, t13 because of the number of stones. That t5 map can still drop maps of up to t7, as long as you have those tiers showing in your atlas. But, honestly, if you are trying to progress your atlas and are just getting into yellow maps, there is no reason to have red maps showing in your atlas. (Well, you might want to do it to raise the awakening level via regions where you know you don't want the maps right now, but that is a more advanced strat.) There are a lot of videos on strategy for progressing your atlas. You need to figure out what maps you want next, and then socket your atlas so that (a) the maps you want can drop, and (b) there are a minimum number of competing maps in the same tier. In this way, you have the best chance of getting the specific maps you want. Also note that there are a very few cases where map drops are not constrained by what is showing in our atlas. These include, I believe, maps that drop from Metamorphs, Blight encounters, the Temple, and Delve. " It's designed to be a complex sub-game to replace the old "manage elder-shaper influence" sub-game. The rules are actually pretty simple once you understand them. You run a t5 map - you can get t1-7 maps from it. Want higher lvl maps - run higher lvl maps. Seems easy

" OK, thanks a bunch. I'm starting to understand what is going on, this helps a lot. |
