awakened skill gems so rare?

Hi.
Before the league started, GGG wrote that awakened skill gems would drop only after new guardians kill, so i guessed it would be like uber-elder and prismatic jewel. few days passed, and i look at builds in poe.ninja, and no one from what i saw there has awakened skill gems in their build. are they too rare? if so and they're rare like mirrors, why GGG bothered to make them at all? Ppl so get them, but they lvl up slower than empower etc.

maybe its something you're not supposed to get and use within 4 days of the introduction of its content

Maybe a certain awakening level is needed for them to drop. I'm stuck on awakening 4, so I have no way of testing this. There is one Awakened Swift Affliction for sale on standard, so I can confirm they do drop.
Keep PoE2 Difficult.
