Choose Your Own Difficulty In PoE - Does It Work?
|
In my view its largely a failure because risk versus reward in POE is almost completely pegged on thee risk side.
What I mean is you can choose to take on more difficulty but the chance of a real "reward" (dopamine hit) goes from 0.001% to 0.002%. Just look at metamorphs for example: die 3 times collect 1 alch and 1 regal die 2 times leave 3 rares on the ground die 0 times pick up the 1 rare that was a base worth iding die 6 times pick up 1 chisel and 3 alts. die 0 times pick up thousand teeth temu and vendor for alch shards what don't judge me I was leveling as melee, that shit kills you over and over and lets not pretend you're doing some amazing skill moves in the black on black on black spam mess. The only moves worth doing are respecing to ranged as is tradition. Anyway back to the subject: the illusion maybe even DELUSION that the game "rewards you for risk" is fucking farcical. So the system is a failure in that regard. Pandering to players who don't want consequences for their mistakes is a perfect description of what went fundamentally wrong with D3 and 4.
If they wanted mindless mobile game time waster gameplay they sure did make some perplexing choices and marketing statements for 6 fucking years. |

So you haven't been in a position where the game gave you 4 yellow/unique organs each dropping a unique item? I don't gamble on the rares or currency drop organs, more because I don't want to kite a boss around the map for 10 minutes for that reward. When the organ is a unique drop or six link though, you slot it.

LoL this is a joke? :D Only because someone sucks.... GGG should change boss/gameplay difficulty for each player!!! :D This is insane. :D What will be next? GGG will not be D3.

"and this is the main problem PoE devs mentioned this about the original maelstrom of chaos. people went for highest difficulty right away and then got frustrated they couldnt do it the same goes for casual players when they reached inferno in D3 (kinda of a different thing but still) when given the highest difficulty with the most reward, people will choose it always unless they're in hardcore. in hardcore one mistake costs too much and so it's completely the opposite strategy. |
