The new Fortify is actually a Buff for the 10% increased damage taken Berserkers and Abyssus players

Old fortify:

20% reduced damage taken vs 10% increased damage taken from Aspect of Carnage = take 0.9 of incoming damage.

New Fortify:
20% less damage taken and 10% increased damage taken => take 0.8 * 1.1 = 0.88 of incoming damage.

The zerker buffs are real my dudes.

Other example, Abyssus:

before: 40 - 20 = 20% inc phys damage taken.

new: 1.4 * 0.8 = 1.12 => 12% inc phys damage taken.

Together with all the monster ele res buffs and weapon ele penetration nerfs and all the often unskilled armour nodes now granting reduced enemy max phys reduction ... might be time to play some phys abyssus shit innit.

You're welcome :)

I am seriously thinking about scrapping that MoM Smite build and playing abyssus phys life/armour crit or crit impale instead.

Rory doesnt make it easy to decide this time.
Thanks man, good Info there.

Was planning Glad BF impale bleed explosions and unsure if I should/could Abyssus. Now I will!

What!!

Someone on a video game forum thought for themselves instead of just mindless repeating negativity without question... Are you from the future 😝
Interesting. Might have to consider an Abyssus now. Would be pretty useful for the tankier new bosses.

Aww come on its comfy here :3

I tried to make the same thread on reddit and got downvoted so much by "muh damage immunity" dudes that I had to delete the thread for damage control. lol.

I appreciate the math but Im curious if GGG actually coded it in that way. They could also have made it multiplicative with +damage reduced modifiers but not multiplicative with +damage taken modifiers.

I know that sounds crazy or paranoid, but weirder interactions have happened.

5. Damage taken:
After damage mitigation, modifiers to damage taken are applied. Flat amounts are applied first, then the sum of all increases/reductions and lastly with more/less multipliers applied separately

unless they have a coding error or the wiki is faulty, it is as it was stated.

That page might be some headache but its one of the most important pages on the wiki.

To visualize what happens in 3.9:

pre 3.9, Fortify was in Order 2, together with abyssus, shock etc. In 3.9 it will be in Order 3. That changes a lot. On one hand players cant sum up 100% reduced damage taken anymore but I never did that anyway cause its unethical and every normal player who doesnt ramp up "reduced damage taken" or does not invest in reduced damage taken at all except fortify is better off.

Now AoC and Abyssus dudes will be better off, player who are shocked or cursed with vulnerability will also be better off IF they use fortify.

I mean its not huge numbers but still.

For an abyssus player for example, 1.12/1.2 = 0.93333 => 6.66666% less phys damage taken compared to pre 3.9, thats a half arctic armour mane.
