Will it shotgun? I assume no, but the AoE is going to be massive...

how could it shotgun?
the projectiles won't shotgun, as far as i know/have heard. the aoe im sure could shotgun, but you can't get more than one aoe at a time. adding projectiles will not give you another aoe effect.
the only way i could possibly see another aoe effect in play is if you use the arrow nova support, but that wouldn't overlap anyway cause it would make it into a nova.
even then, i don't think you'll get more than one aoe effect....but i honestly REALLY REALLY hope you will. so it shoots the aoe effect 4-5 times or whatever to be like a giant circle. im too hopeful of it, but im nearly positive it won't work that way

The skill is designed to shotgun actually. Its short range and the AoE cone part of it can overlap directly on a target. So point blank+GA+Chin Sol will be a great boss killer I think.
Or, Ballista+GA with a bunch of them placed right on top of the boss = GG single target damage.
GA is just reworked Shrapnel shot and you focused on the AoE Cone before, I assume its the same except its now designed as an early game shotgun skill in both appearance and playstyle.

that isn't shotgunning though.
shotgunning is going to be what shrapnel ballista is going to be able to do, much like shattering steel, where all the projectiles can hit and damage a single target. rather than only being able to be hit by one arrow.
galvanic arrow has two parts to it, an arrow and the aoe. obviously each one can damage a single target, but if you get multiple arrows from galvanic arrow im pretty sure they won't be able to "shotgun" as in each arrow can damage a single target.
and im pretty sure there won't be a way to get multiple of its aoe cones in a single cast

I was under the impression that the individual arrows were now getting their own AoE and that would allow the AoE to overlap effectively shot gunning with the AoE.

i don't think so. that isn't how shrapnel shot works currently, i don't think that'll be how it works with galvanic arrow. especially since galvanic arrow gives you additional arrows inherent on the gem itself.

Shrapnel Shot is now called Galvanic Arrow, making the Lightning theme more obvious and differentiating the skill from the new Shrapnel Ballista. The skill still has a damage cone, but its projectiles are now limited range, traveling a base distance of 40 before projectile speed modifiers (which is about twice the range of Cleave). The skill now comes with two additional projectiles, giving a close range focus to the skill. It also has added lightning damage that grows as the gem levels.
The skill has a new mechanic that lets Projectile Speed modifiers apply to its Area of Effect, making it much easier to scale up the skill's damage cone while simultaneously increasing the range of its projectiles.
Overall, the skill, is now focused on being a close range skill at lower levels, and a powerful and sizeable damage area at higher levels. Adjustments to its damage mean that the Collateral Damage threshold jewel should no longer be required, so we're stopping the jewel dropping. Existing copies will deal 50% increased damage with the cone, rather than giving a 50% chance for double damage.

OK, I didn't catch the bit about them extra arrows built in. I've played Shrap Shot a couple times but have NEVER tried to add arrows to it because I read it didn't work. Oh well. Still playing it, that AoE is hopefully gonna get as big and fun as I think it will lol. Thanks for all the responses all, I appreciate it!
