PoE 2 off colour sockets

Hey I havent found any info about this. Can anyone tell me how off-colours will work in 4.0/PoE 2? 90% of my 6l body armours in standard have 4-6 off-colour sockets. Is there any info about it? I know we still have a long way to go until PoE 2 release so wouldnt surprise me if there isnt an answer yet.

The socket number and socket colors are based on the skill gem itself.

I dont think theyve told us if say a blue gem like fireball is going to be heavily weighted to roll blue sockets or to what extent but I imagine getting "off colors" relative to the main gem is going to be a bit tough.

Well, chromes will still be a thing, but I don't know that the details were put out on specifics. From what I've heard, you can use them on your "linked" main skill gem for sure which is the same as having variant colors on a 6l now (I'd assume colors are weighted based on the main skill color but unknown)... but idk on the base item for sure. I'd assume so, but maybe not since they are shown having a fixed color pattern.

Lets say u have a str based armor 2 red 4 blue, this might indicate the skill gem is blue, that mean all u need now is a blue socket anywhere and roll 2 red on your 6L skill gem.

I bet it will be mutch easy to get one blue socket on a str based armor in 4.0. On craft bench.

In the end i belive if the gem is a int/dex based gem the red collors will be hard to get.

Hope u get what i try to say
We have no information yet on how off-colors will be reweighted. It's obvious that it'll be based on the actual skill gem though, not on your equipment.

But if the weightings are based on actual stat requirements on the gem (the same way it currently is with gear) then we'll have a very weird meta where it's easiest to roll off-color sockets at gem level 1, so you also want to 6L at gem level 1.
There are still all kinds of questions.

Like how will temple corruptions and betrayal rewards work?

Will gems get the white slots? (Yes presumably I would think) - and if so doesn't this dramatically effect the outcome rolls for armor pieces?

I think instead of roll white on the armor it will be changet to apply to the skill gem it self.
So can end op with a blue skillgem 3 blue+3 white socket

This isn't my understanding... we'll be coloring the sockets for the supports, but they'll stay with the gem.
The way I understand it is you can change the colors of the sockets with both chromes, and the crafting bench. Whether or not the sockets color is weighted on the gem type hasn't been said as far as I know, but most likely will be weighted in some form.. The crafting bench will help get the off colors needed tho.

Oh, yeah, for sure the crafting bench will still be in use for it. It's just a question of weights for the non-guaranteed rolls.
