How to advance once you reach the Epilogue?
Hello,
I've just reached the epilogue with my Duelist, following the build of HankTheTank. It worked great so far, but I don't have enough res now, to the point that I have some negative res. I don't know how to farm new gear though. I completed my first T1 map without problems, but now if I find a monster with Fire/Cold/Chaos damage I'm killed almost instantly. Does anyone know where I can farm some gear? Should I just run the Act X again and again until I can do T1 maps? Last bumped on Dec 3, 2019, 11:55:03 AM

" If you are starting out in T1 then the game has just begun for you ! Maps will lead you to Uber Elder if that is your ultimate goal. For increasing resistance you are going to have to replace gear/respect skill tree and/or invest in gems or jewels. Some thoughts 1. Craft your own stuff. Would avoid this till much later in the game. You need lots of both currency and recipes and have RNG go your way. You could have someone craft for you but again you will need either currency, recipes or both to provide to a crafter. 2. Farm for gear. This will take a long time, is far from guaranteed and gets boring fast. Avoid it. You could farm certain maps for divination cards such as Humility (waterways, aqueduct) which you can then get a Tabula with, which you can then sell and use the currency to go the third route below, which is trade for gear. 3. Trading is probably the fastest route to better gear. If you are playing SSF then you are SOL, otherwise this would be the recommendation on gear to boost resistances. You need currency but can get some good deals. Not everyone wants multiple exalts for stuff. Use GGG trade or Poe.trade to look for stuff you need. 4. Look at skills tree and see if there are any nodes that will help with beefing up resistances. Reasonable if it doesn’t impact other stats you need. 5. Get jewels or gems that provide resistance boost (via trading or drops while you are mapping). Reasonable if you have the empty slots or is an upgrade to what is already there. It seems like an issue with basic stats, life and resists. Now at lvl 73 you should have around 4k life and your elemental (non-chaos) resists have to be capped. Capped resists are mandatory for later acts an mapping..
Its impossible to tell anything specific because your characters are set to be hidden. IGN: Eric_Lindros

Yes, please make your character profile public so folks can give you more specific advice. Adding resists at the crafting bench may be your best option, but buying in trade will not be expensive for basic gear if you're not SSF.
You can also try farming act 10 zones or the blood aqueduct in act 9. Try the blight encounters if you're farming. But let's see how far off you really are, and whether you're in SSF or trade league. |

Sorry that's an old account and forgot about the hidden char thing :O
Here are my stats: Offence ![]() With a chance to impale of 40%. The DPS increases during combat, so it's not an issue for T1-T2 maps. Defence ![]() Armor goes up to ~19k due to the Champion Ascendancy with Fortify + Impale. |

the main issue is obvious. 3k life is not that terrible (you should have 4k+ at this point as melee though) but your fire and cold resistances are the problem. you basically take 4-5 times more fire/cold damage than you are supposed to, which makes it impossible to survive against this type of damage
your tree is not that bad but your gear is all vendor tier, its far bellow entry level gear tier used for early mapping. all the rare items should have solid +Life rolls and the second most important mod are elemental resistances. You have to reach 75% resist all except chaos. your weapons are just terrible. you focus on physical damage (brutality support, impale) but they have none. couple of whetstones, alchemy orbs or low tier phys essences combined with basic bench crafting would grant you way more damage or you can just buy items for 1 chaos orb each and solve all the problems for low-mid tier maps there are plenty of other problems, flasks with no mods (life ones should have instant recovery and you need max 2 of them, Stibnite flask makes wonders for melee and can provide reliable and important freeze/chill immunity with "of the Heat" suffix, you should also have bleed removal on one flask), unfinished Labyrinths, only 4L on a main skill (Cleave) with crappy Onslaught support (should have Melee physical damage), suboptimal utility skills etc.. but start with the basics (life, resists, phys dps weapons, main skill links with appropriate supports) IGN: Eric_Lindros CET: Timezone Last edited by Ludvator#6587 on Dec 2, 2019, 5:44:18 PM

The good news is that these are all new-player challenges that are easily fixable, and your play will feel so much better when you do.

Thank you everyone for the advices!
Thankfully I had some currency to create a simple base for my character. I've capped Cold and Lighting res, Fire at 46%, chaos still -6% but it will be 0% soon. Changed weapons to Phys based ones (1 dropped, and the other bought). Almost bought all the gems required for the build I'm following. The only downside is the Life that will reach 3k soon, but I can do without problems T4 maps in few minutes if I run (haven't found a T5 yet). Also, completed the Merciless Lab. If you could compare Uber Lab to a map, which Tier do you think it would represent? Do I need to cap Chaos Res for that lab? |

Chaos res at -6% is fine for now. Much higher priority is getting your fire resist from 46 to 75%.
If you can do t4 maps, Uber Lab should be doable. The two things in uber lab to watch out for are (1) the various physical damage traps (which are no issue with physical mitigation) and (2) the different supports that Izaro has, especially in his 3rd stage. That fight is really more about learning how to deal with his extra supports and the traps you have to avoid while fighting him. It can be a tricky boss fight until you get enough dps to just blow him up. Last edited by GreyLensman#5323 on Dec 3, 2019, 11:21:16 AM

If you try Uber Lab, go to POELAB and get the days layout.
FIND ALL DARKSHRINES! Pray for labyrinth traps are disabled in the final fight :) I got traps disabled and speed for my deadeye and Izaro never knew what hit him! EDIT: I would avoid Argus (Izaro's pet) in the lab in a Tabula. If you see big shiny doors that seem tempting... just walk on by. Your in a tight spot not knowing about resist penalties and other things. Plus being lv70 can mean you are broke. It is good you can get through maps, keep plugging along at lower levels and hope for some drops. It is great you fixed resists so fast, keep working on fire, it really matters! Resists to 75% is key. And if you plan on playing around with chaos, then try to get chaos res to 0% at least (-16 is ok for now), and bring an amethyst flask if you want to run with Alva in the temple. EDIT: You are falling for the noob trap. All those shiny uniques that really aren't doing anything except getting you killed. They are great for leveling, but they lose their luster in maps. 2 life/resistance rare rings would be better than thieves torment. Try to get out of some of those. Goldrim is always hard to lose. You can craft on your gloves and amulet right now. Visit your crafting bench in hideout. Can't tell if you have a suffix open, but that could solve your fire res issue, if not then take life. The belt is nice but again, there are nicer things out there. Sometimes giving up damage to fix survivability is a must because as we all know... dead exiles deal 0dps. Your damage bonus is coming from a 6 link, everything else should go to life/resists, and you can fix that again after final ascension/yellow maps. You know, when you get to T8 or so and the Tabula fails... because you are a tank and you will need armor and life ;) Oh, CWDT doesn't cast curses... unfortunately... BOOOOOO! It doesn't cast warcrys either so don't get crazy. Try and get Withering Step in CWDT, my favorite escape skill. it's a BLINK skill so it will work with molten shell. Elusive, phase run and wither all in 1! A true lifesaver! It's green so it will fit in your boots (just don't over level it), and Vulnerability can go live in your sword. Pick a 3rd defensive skill like ice wall or something to protect yourself, it's dangerous out there! Also, throw an orb of transmutation at those life flasks and watch them dance! You can upgrade flasks too, quality and function. after making them magic, throw some alteration orbs at them and see if you can get bleed immunity. Shock immunity is gold because they will always kill you with lightning! Hey, we are all friends here, we all sucked, and we all got better. Where is your movement skill? Flame dash is real nice, I use it almost exclusively. Not sure how leap slam would work with Cleave, but you really need an escape plan... Good Luck Exile! EDIT! Holy shit that guy writes a good guide! I wanna try it! Dam bow league... Ok, so you're a life stealer, I guess leave the ring. and he uses leap slam, so get that going! I will wear your ghost and you will die twice, against me and for me. That is some cold blooded shit to say... Last edited by GrunkleBob#2230 on Dec 3, 2019, 1:09:26 PM
