Reforge gems in PoE2

Now that gems have their own sockets, one thing I'd like to see is a currency item that reforges a gem into another random gem, keeping the existing sockets and quality. This would be a good use for a high-socket gem of a type that doesn't benefit from lots of supports, like most auras, and it would be a possible way to generate a gem with lots of off colors.

I don't think you're entirely understanding how the sockets (numbers and colors) are going to work in 4.0.

What don't I understand? Each active skill gem will have its own sockets for support gems, so it would be interesting to have a way to transform a skill gem into another one while preserving the number and colors of sockets.

Care to elaborate why not other than a LOL?

No as in, "no that is not how it works" or no as in "no that is not a good mechanic"?

And why isnt it? You can reforge uniques into other uniques. So, why not exactly?

god I hate explaining why people's ideas are bad in this forum.

ok. randoming gems is a really bad idea because there are 30 of them so this would mean nothing and would add more rng to things which people hate so its a big lol from me.

and if we come to part no. I think its too far of a shot to randomise your gems to get correct colours with correct skills. so no to that.

* This forum is for the specific purpose of giving players a place to make suggestions for additions and changes to the game. I'm not sure why you feel the need to shoot down other players' suggestions if you hate it so much.
* There are actually about 200 active skill gems in the game, not counting Vaal versions.
* Path of Exile is basically RNG: The Game. RNG is at the heart of the crafting process, whether you're chaos spamming, exalting, or even annulling before you multimod. Players who don't enjoy crafting have the option of farming currency or divination cards and buying crafted items.
* Yes, there would be a small chance of the reforging producing a valuable gem, but the potential payoff for a lucky one is huge. I imagine there would be players willing to spam currency for the possibility of getting e.g. an Elemental Hit with three red and two blue sockets.

1)Dont post on forum if you are unable to speak with people properly.

2)If you got crap 6-L gem then it would be decent to have way to reroll it to other skill gem. Maybe it will be another bad gem, but maybe it will be something usefull. It doesnt hurt, its just RNG to get something from the 6L you were lucky enough to drop.

3)Of course the best solution would be to balance skill so there would be no useless gems in first place.
