Just started a new character on Blight, saw news about 3.9, what happens to existing Blight league?

OK so I'm having great fun on Blight with my Solo Self-Found Elementalist Storm Brand build (build here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TQTYyEbx9zM)

I just saw that 3.9 and Metamorph is dropping on Dec 13th, so I'm a little worried that I might just have wasted 10+ hours of my life (I'm on Act 4 and am around level 45 or so, so it's not the end of the world if I restart, but I'd rather not!).

So, just a few questions:

1) What happens to Blight league when 3.9 drops? Does it get updated with any new content? Will my build become shit? I'm playing SSF so I don't care about the league being 'abandoned' by players or anything like that. But I'd rather not suddenly end up with a useless character. Storm Brand already got nerfed a bit last patch I think, so I'm probably safe there... right?

2) Is Metamorph going to be so good that it's worth me simply dropping my character and starting a new one? Am I going to missing out on epic stuff? I do not care about things like competing with other players, or trading (since I'm playing SSF).

PS: I saw in another post that Blight is disliked by many players? I'm curious as to why that is, as I'm quite enjoying it, but it's not a very important question, just thought I'd ask anyway.

1a. League ends, as in can't create a new char or play in it after that. What happens to the content (mechanics, items, etc) is announced by GGG at some point.

1b. Chars from that league go to Standard (Standard SSF in your case) and can continue to be played.

1c. Changes to the tree, skills, and items can definitely affect your char. If the tree changes you'll be granted a passive respec to re-do your tree for free.

2a. You can't interact with Metamorph in any way right now. If you wish to play now it's Standard or Blight.

2b. If you wish to play Metamorph you will have to start a new character.

And if you're having fun, it's not wasted time. That's what games are for.

Your character in Blight league will be transferred to the permanent Standard league and remain playable there. Your Blight stash tabs will be added to your Standard stash as remove-only tabs. Your atlas progression, etc. will be merged into Standard league.

To play in the new Metamorph challenge league, you will need to create a new character and start with an empty stash, empty Atlas, etc.

Does Standard league mean I lose access to Blight content, or is that one of the things that's yet to be decided?

Basically you will still be able to play with your current character in Standard, which means you will have everything that the new expansion (conquerors of the atlas) offers, but you won't have access to what the nea league (metamorph) offers.

That is because the metamorph league will start fresh and everyone will have to start from scratch with a new economy etc OR keep playing their character in standard with the expension update but not the league update

That's on the to be decided list. Each league is different for what gets incorporated. Most of Synthesis and Tempest are gone, Rampage is restricted to items that grant the ability, but Breach and Abyss are there quite a bit, etc.

At some point there will be a dev post about Blight and what will and will not go core.

Ahh ok I see. That's much better than what I thought it would be. I thought I wouldn't get any of the new content
