PoE Mobile and why I'm not upset about it.

yeah yeah general discussion users, yeah I'm sure it's because the presentation and the memes that poe immortal is amazing.. I'm sure.

Nobody is saying that PoE Mobile is amazing, but it was announced in a way and in a context that didn't anger fans.

You have to keep in mind that PoE is still actively updated and one of the biggest content updates was announced beforehand, so there's more of a sense of PoE Mobile being a side project rather than a successor to the main game.

So with it on mobile and Mac, that leaves only Switch and Linux left and then they'll truly be on every major platform. They're really gonna chase Blizzard to the ends of the Earth, aren't they? ;)

GGG/PoE no longer needs to "chase" blizzard/Diablo when it comes to this genre, its Blizzard/Diablo now that one that needs to keep up with GGG/PoE.

GGG/PoE is the superior game already.

Poe offers u proper updates tat adds content. Mobile is juz a small part n little allocation of resources.

PoE on PS4: "Quiet".

PoE Mobile: "Cool".

If the mobile games are online only, then i will never play.

I have to admit, whats the point with a mobile game if you cant play without mobile net, now a days 95% are online games.

I realy hope there will be an mobile offline mode like D3 switch ( play on the go, no internet needed )

Well shit, as long as they made it clear that it's an extra experimental project and it isn't eating up resources from the PC games I don't mind at all, hell I might even give it a go when and if it comes out.

Announcing it after PoE2 was a big plus too.

There's actually a quite big difference between the situation of Poe and Diablo when it comes to the mobile announcement.

Diablo 3 hasn't really seen any form of new content or patch or even an addon / xpac since Reaper of Souls released 2014.
So the Diablo Fanbase (myself included, I love PoE and Diablo aswell) was starving for new content for quite some time.

Now during the year of the Blizzcon with the Diablo Immortal announcement, Blizzard released sort of a "you guys are going to freakout about what's new for the Diablo franchise when we announce it at Blizzcon" - Hype Video with the Communitymanager telling the Fanbase that the Studio has "multiple Diablo Projects in the works" and that the "Forges are burning hot at Blizzard".

Now even tho the Community Manager also stated in the Video that "Very evil things take longer than others" which clearly was a hint not to expect D4 at Blizzcon, basically the whole content starved Diablo Fanbase went nuts with speculation and expectations about D4 having some sort of announcement at Blizzcon that year.

And well, there everyone was, watching and expecting, being hyped, at Blizzcon.
They saved up the Diablo announcement for the end of the Opening Ceremony, and basically the whole Internet + Audience just were baffled when the only thing they had to announce and talk about was a new Diablo release for Mobile.

And that quite honestly felt like a big fat punch into the face for a lot of fans.

So to close this wall of text out; in PoE we get a ton of content to play and be happy about every 3 months, so there really isn't even anything we could be mad about in regards to this topic.

The only way that people could've been upset about the Mobile announcement at Exilecon, to me atleast, would've been if they only had said Mobile announcement to show for all of it's fans. But yeah, clearly that didn't happen =)


TLDR: Blizzard Diablo no new content in X Years, goes forward to hype up Big announcement at Blizzcon about Diablo franchise to content starved Fans -> Only announces Diablo Immortal -> fans feel betrayed, Blizzard not worried at all before shitstorm.

PoE tons of steady content releases, which is greatly appreciated, shows crazy hot juicy new stuff for PoE 4.0 or 2.0 at their new Convention, announces poe mobile alongside it, everyone cheering. yet GGG is still worried about the community perception.

You're right about everything but this. D3 has gotten tons of content since then. Grifts, like 100 new legendaries, the Necromancer with a new quest and tilesets, Kanai's Cube and the few new zones and tilesets that came with it, all those mash up zones, a ton of new goblins and Greed's Domain, one of the goblins drops a massive amount of new pets they added, and a rainbow goblin that's the only way to open up Whimsydale with a chance for Princess Lillian to spawn and get the Cosmic Wings, challenge rifts, and I'm sure there's some more I'm forgetting.

D3 isn't nearly as neglected as people pretend it is.

Edit: I can't believe I forgot the biggest and best one. Set dungeons. 24 new static dungeons with fairly hard challenges to show mastery of all the skills in the game and earn a ton of new pennants and a couple pairs of wings.

That was my most hype one, I really can't believe I forgot that.
