Give Us Free Weta Pets SO THAT Pets Can Pick Up Loot
|
Title's pretty self-explanatory...
I think the major prohibition for looting pets is the fact that pets are MTXes and have to be purchased, right? No P2W. So give all players a free, dinky pet... a Weta... for, IDK... clearing the Fetid Pool or something. Some quest reward. Thanks for listening! No. Pointless clicking builds character or some other hogwash.

I don't think they think that. I think that PoE:China($0.10) has tested this out, and while most of their (P2W) features are EGREGIOUS, this is a REALLY nice feature. And it wouldn't have to be P2W with the suggested free Weta pet.
And unlike the account-bound Tabula Rasas you can pay for... or the EXP-restoring coins you can buy (that can even resurrect a HC character??)... or whatever other nonsense they let their players pay for... A pet whom you can program to pick up loot is really a boon, and it's a shame that pets are gated behind paying real money for them. Because otherwise, we could have this feature. Right? Let's make 'er happen! - 0 * - < _ > - * 0 -- 0 * - < _ > - * 0 -- 0 * - < _ > - * 0 -- 0 * - < _ > - * 0- 0 * - < <739610877-3104-376.101077-1106.75103739110792103.108-5'92.9410776.> - 0 * - < _ > - * 0 -- 0 * - < _ > - * 0 -- 0 * - < _ > - * 0 -- 0 * - < _ > - * 0- 0 * - < Last edited by bwam#7637 on Oct 27, 2019, 1:22:01 PM

There are meaningful choices to make when gaming and then there's busywork which takes time, but doesn't provide meaningful choices for players and doesn't add to the fun factor of the game. Basic stuff like currency pickup falls under the "busywork, doesn't add to the fun factor, not a meaningful choice" end of the spectrum. Pets that look after that would be greatly appreciated.
If that's not enough, then the positive effects on players' health of less problems with repetitive strain injuries would be welcome and highly appreciated. On a related note, game developers have choices and when they opt to keep click-rates-per-second high with busywork, then it's hard to argue that they're completely innocent when gamers have difficulties with RSI and other such problems. Full disclosure: I fell in love with pets looking after loot after getting ferrets in D3 and pets in Torchlight 1 & 2. I also appreciate auto-gold-pickup in games where that is available. Now that prestige classes will finally leave lab in 4.0, will GGG get it right this time or will they find new ways to repeat old mistakes? This would make Bots so much more effective
This would be very difficult to program and develop as the system would have to detect how much space is in your inventory and fit it accordingly etc This would literally be P2W |

Well... no. It's not P2W if everybody gets one for completing some optional quest. In fact, this could be a way to incentivize completion of many of the always-overlooked optional quests in POE; I literally do not remember the last time I completed the Golden Hand quest. Sometime in Harbinger league, probably. Increasing the carrying capacity, speed, AI, etc of your loot-pet would certainly give us all a reason to do things like help Bestel in Act 6 or Lilly in Act 10.
The main reason not to put this in the game is because it widens the already enormous power/income disparity between the top players and the casual majority. I personally don't see that as a bad thing, though I'm probably in the minority there. |

" I, too, have read the book PoEles. :P PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.
Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build! And the winds will cry / and many men will die / and all the waves will bow down / to the Loreley |

so damn right, I have a juicy loot-pet which is a kind of mythical beast of Ancient China.
but there is a great truth that the real rewarding items are very hard to get, and if you choose a nice filter you won't have many loots to pick. This account is only for feedback and suggestions.

" It isn’t really hogwash though. Clicking to pick up items has a massive effect on the economy and your self found crafting resources. It’s unpleasant and annoying, but changing it would dramatically alter how the game is played and what the character power to investment curve looks like. |

They should remove Wisdom and Portal scrolls from the game, for starters. They are an obsolete Diablo relic that even Diablo abandoned. Just hand us a Portal gem as an early quest reward, and switch ID mechanics to no longer require a currency. Wisdom/Portal scrolls are pointless clutter that are only actually relevant for the first 10 minutes of the league, after which you have so many of them that they might as well be unlimited.
This is a buff™
