Same Skills does it work?

Hi there I'm kinda new and this would be my first character, my question is would same passive skill works or it will null one of them example.

If i get body and soul on the first part of the skill tree and get the next body and soul passive skill on the upper part of the tree will it overlap and work or not?

20% Increase Armor
20% Energy shield
10% elemental resistance
+
20% Increase Armor
20% Energy shield
10% elemental resistance
=
40% Increase Armor
40% Energy shield
20% elemental resistance

Or no?
