Cowl of the Cryophile malfunction : fire & lightning resistance are not reduce, but less
![]() ![]() I'm glad to buy "Cowl of the Cryophile" - one of the blight-specific uniques in 3.8.0. and replace all the rest of my system to respond to the unique options related to resistance. But because of the problem of acting as "less" instead of "reduce", I have a problem with my resistance. Since I spent many Currency to replace the rest of the items to restore fire and lightning resistance, it was difficult to get back to the previous state. So I didn't enjoy the game as I wanted. Even because my five-day vacation starts tomorrow, I planned to play the game in earnest from tonight. Perhaps I'll start another character that wasn't scheduled until this problem was solved, but I'm very sorry for this. I am always grateful that you make and provide good games. I hope that you will be able to identify this bug and resolve it quickly. BYE. ✔ Last edited by hasid82#6042 on Sep 10, 2019, 5:12:33 PM Last bumped on Sep 18, 2019, 8:02:37 AM

This is definitely an issue either way - the wording needs to be changed to say "Less" or the values needs to be adjusted to be the actual values. I just finished itemizing all of my resists for this helm and everything is off - my 155% fire resistance becomes 77% instead of 100%.
Really annoying. |

" Thanks for your report, this is intended. Additive bonuses to Resistances use the wording "+% to Lightning Resistance" or "-% to Lightning Resistance". These helmets are the first cases of "Reduced Resistances", these are also multiplicative with the keystone "Tempered by War" which provide "Less Resistance". I hope this helps.
" I don't use "Lethal Pride Timeless Jewel". My helmet provide "-50% to Fire Resistance" and "-51% to Lightning Resistance", if it worked normally. But my 113% Fire resistance becomes 56% instead of 63% and 139% Lightning resistance becomes 68% instead of 88%, As you can see if you saw my screenshot. "Freakinchair", who commented on my thread, says that the same phenomenon is annoying. I hope you read the bug report carefully and look forward to a quick fix. Thank you. ✔ Last edited by hasid82#6042 on Sep 17, 2019, 7:57:26 PM

" The reason I mentioned "Tempered by War" was to help explain how the modifier worked (since that has "Less Resistance"), it wasn't my intention to imply you were using "Lethal Pride", sorry about that. The current behaviour with the helmet is intended. This is why is says "50% reduced Fire Resistance" rather than "-50% to Fire Resistance" for example.
Is this really the intended behavior?!
'Reduce' has the same meaning as -% and in that case you haven't used the word 'Less'?? Am I misunderstanding so far? ✔

Yeah, if it functions like a less multiplier, why call it something else that confuses people?

"It's quite confusing because resistances work like flat stats actually despite of having '%' in the name. Increased and reduced work almost like more and less. The difference is the first ones are addictive with each other. But if you have the only one increased/reduced modifier it works like multiplier. We can get other sources of increased/reduced and more/less modifiers for resistances in future. So it'll matter then. Last edited by MonaHuna#6449 on Sep 18, 2019, 5:49:27 AM

This is similar to how Critical Strike Chance works.
Example: - Fireball has 6% Critical Strike Chance. - Your passives grant 200% increased Critical Strike Chance for a total of 18%. Let's complicate it a bit further: - Linking it with a level 1 Increased Critical Strikes Support gives +1% to Critical Strike Chance and 50% increased Critical Strike Chance. - Assuming you have the same passives, you now have 7% base crit and 250% increased Critical Strike Chance for a total of 7% * 3.5 = 24.5% chance to crit. Taking it one step further: - With the Assassin ascendancy's "Ambush and Assassinate" node: "100% more Critical Strike Chance against Enemies that are on Full Life." - That means you have 24.5% * 2 = 49% Critical Strike Chance against enemies on Full Life. One last step: - Finally, let's use a Diamond Flask: "Your Critical Strike Chance is Lucky." - You can calculate your effective Critical Strike Chance yourself using the formula here. |
