Swift Assembly Support Seems a bit weak

Hi, i took the time to calculate the numbers for Swift Assembly Support in comparison to Minefield Support and Minefield Support is on average 25% stronger than Swift Assembly Support (25% more multiplier)

So the chances for additional mines are the following:
1 mine = 14,89%
2 mine = 9,25%
3 mine = 6,36%
4 mine = 0,95%
5 mine = 0,59%
6 mine = 0,012%
0 mine = 67,8%

That leads to the average number of mines thrown: 2*0.1489+3*0.0925+4*0.0636+5*0.0095+6*0.0059+7*0.00012+1*0.678 = 1.591

So if your default throwing speed is 6.68 Mines per second(all increased nodes in the passive tree and your mine hits for 10000 damage, the following applies:

tps= throws per second. mines= count of mines
Swift Assembly dps: 6.68 tps * 10000 dmg * 1.591 mines = 106278 dps
Minefield dps: (6.68*0.4) tps * 10000 dmg * 5 mines = 133600 dps

So that would be 25% more damage multiplier for Minefield Support. Of course with Minefield you would only throw Mines 2.6 times per second, but i still feel like Swift Assembly is a lot weaker.

Maybe i made an error somewhere, but otherwise i think i would always prefer Minefield over Swift Assembly Support.

I totally agree...
Don't need math. New is better. New is always better.
Your math kinda draws a narrow conclusion. Swift assembly may only be 1.59 extra mines average but has the outlier burst potential.

You'd have to look at the other benefits of sequencing etc to see the real world performance difference and benefits.

My guess is that Swift assembly may be better for bossing by comparison.
I mostly see them as gems you would want to use together in order to max out on the auras and sequence bonuses so its less a matter of minefield vs swift assembly and more what other gems am I missing out on if I use both. Given the power of each of the auras and sequence bonuses I'm guessing using both should be the "correct" option in most cases except probably ignite mines.

oh and this is slightly off topic but i just want to point out that if tremor rod lets mines detonate twice in the same sequence it should be insanely good with pyroclast mine... sooo many extra explosions...

Hmm, in my opinion the only benefit of Swift Assembly might be that it feels better to play, because you throw them faster.
But Minefield should also be better for sequencing, because on average you throw more mines per second, even if the delay between the throws is longer.
True, the would be the logical conclusion.

If the only benefit is smoother gameplay that would be sad.

I do hope the actual application is a better choice than that.

I agree with the tremor rod that it might be good depending on how they changed it.

But using both together is not a good option in my opinion. Because both have the potential of adding additional mines, but Minefield gives you 60% less throwing speed.
So it would make Swift assembly 60% less efficient.

For example if we have our(6.68*0.4) mine throws per second with an average hit of 10000 with our minefield support and therefor each throw throws 5 mines.
So the dps would be: (6.68*0.4)*5*10000=133600

Now we add Swift Assembly to that:
(6.68*0.4)*5.591*10000=149391

That's only 11% more damage, so another Support gem might be better. Of course you would have the bonus of a bit more sequencing, but i dont think it would make up for that much less damage.

But if you use Swift Assembly on its own without Minefield, it would be a 59% more damage multiplier.

And Minefield on its own would be a 100% more damage multiplier.
