Allies
(short title just to make looking up the subject much easier in the future)
This thread concerns auras and allies, since I really have no clue as I've never run an aurabot. What determines if an aura works for nearby 'friendlies' (not in your party, not your minion or totem, merely 'green' such as the minions/totems of a live human member of your group/party) What does the text 'allies' refer to? What does the text 'party members' refer to? What are minions (zombies, golems, sentinels, and the like) considered? Allies, or party members? What are totems considered? Do the auras of certain totems (ancestral protector, et al) extend to the minions of the totem user? How are traps treated by auras that affect allies/party members? Patch Notes 3.15: Fixed a bug where players believed the game was playable. This has been corrected and made retroactive. Patch Notes 3.19: Fixed a bug where players adapted to 3.15. This bug cannot be corrected, so we have implemented a 90% reduction in item access as a punishment. Last bumped on Sep 3, 2019, 1:48:55 PM

Party members = players
Allies = players, totems and minions, including the totems and minions of party members Traps and mines are neither Language should generally be clear, e.g. ancestral protector says "being near it grants you more attack speed" Cheers |

'you' is self explanatory.
'allies' and 'party members' is about as clear as mud. Why not just make one modifier 'allies' and leave it at that. It's as bad as 'increased' and 'more'. Digging into the wiki, and managing to strike it miraculously lucky on a forum search, will return pages of gobbledygook math that a mathematician could grasp, certainly. But new players, or players who do not micro around the distinctions, are left scratching their heads. Patch Notes 3.15:

" Language clarity can be hit or miss, for sure. "ally" has its own Wiki entry, but you have to find "partying" to back into a definition of party member. Another example is the language around local and global mods in some places. But, in general, language is actually pretty clean given the high complexity of the game. For sure, anyone looking for a "pick up and play" game is not going to find it in PoE. It does take some serious study to figure everything out. Depending on what you like that's either a reason to play it, or a reason not to. Cheers! |
