" PoE in its core is a barter system. All trades are one item for another, and each currency holds inherent value based off function and rarity. But you can just as easily trade one piece of gear for another or swap maps, etc. The game could have you purchase specific items with a general currency, but I highly doubt that would be very popular. Any changes to the currency system will target farmers. They don’t really create demand for anything, but chaos are common drops, commonly used for the reroll function, and easily converted to 1 scouring, 1 alchemy. That makes it the currency of choice. Exalted are rare, but hold an insanely valuable tool in granting a free mod to gear. That makes them the standard x number of chaos. Currency trading is done at every level and can be extremely profitable. You might have trouble with say trading an annulment for scrolls, but you could get that in 2 trades. |

it's like the government which is forcing you to use dollars to pay your taxes to make sure there is a demand for dollars as a dominating currency.
they force you to get your hands on dollars to pay your taxes. they could also charge their taxes in bitcoins so you had to get your hands on those. ggg charging a certain currency for endgame access is creating demand just for that currency so trades will be mainly in that currency too. it's probably a minor effect in poe but just imagine ggg would charge 300 portal scrolls for a zana mod edit: leather belt collection hype!!!!! offline Last edited by cronus#1461 on Sep 4, 2019, 8:49:37 AM
