Speeding up Campaign for Char 2, 3, 4 etc
" Firts of all, explain in detail if you want to make an argument. Otherwise it's a bit hard to answer properly to it. A simple 'no it's not!' doesn't help a discussion along. So: Why wouldn't it help exactly? Also as for the extra mobs: Sure it is a buff for pre-map areas, meant to provide more mobs at the early areas to level up quicker and be able to skip as much space as possible which you usually would need to run (For instance 'The Ledge' and 'The Climb' could be completely skipped with this method, which is a good 3-5 minutes when speedrunning.) that's after all the major part to be addressed for quicker progression AFTER the first character is finished in a league. In that case: Why is it silly? Also yes, it's 'dumbing down' the game in this regard, that's the goal of it after all. The current state is that GGG seemingly doesn't want to put effort into making Act 1-10 worthwhile for repeating, hence dumbing down is the simple and quick solution. Sub-par but viable since it uses a lot less resources from the devs while pleasing everyone who dislikes speed-running and/or just lacks the time to invest often several days to get a character even into maps. So, why would this be a negative? GGG balance is like getting a pizza which is burnt on the sides, raw in the middle and misses the most of the toppings.
Then upon sending it back you get a raw side, burnt middle and enough toppings to drench everything in grease. Everything fixed but still broken. |

" SO ... you go through the ledge/climb without killing asingle mob ??? OK LOL And why purely buffing something for no actual reason (apart for "bad" players who cannot be bothered to make any effort) is a bad thing ? is this a real question ?? Oo holy ... you really seem to love arguing for the sake of arguing ... PS: Don't bother writting an essay to answer, I probably won't bother reading it. SSF is not and will never be a standard for balance, it is not for people entitled to getting more without trading.

" Obviously. If all waypoints are unlocked from the start and I only need to trigger the quest-dependencies then I would go with the mud-flats, trigger the glyphs to open the door and move to the dweller. From there the teleport back to town happens and I directly move to the lower Prison. Hence I don't 'go through' those zones... I don't even see them in the first place. That's why the mob-density in other areas is important to make up for it. Combined it provides a speed-improvement (and a new speed-run category) for playing through Act 1-10. Solely reserved for anyone who already has a character in the mapping-stage. Also once again, your view is very narrow. As explained it's not for 'bad players' (they are a part of it though) but those who simply dislike Act 1-10 (which is a sizable amount) without interfering with those who like the content in a major way. You just seemingly lack the ability to see what the suggestion is made for, not me lacking the understanding for speed-runs. I have a fairly decent grasp on that actually... I personally don't like to play in such a manner though. Re-logging to save time or vendor-recipes with the right timing aren't my thing. I prefer a more 'intended' way of playing a game. This doesn't mean I'm ignoring all other people who have obvious issues (and understandably so) with mechanics or progression-systems that are tedious. GGG balance is like getting a pizza which is burnt on the sides, raw in the middle and misses the most of the toppings.
Then upon sending it back you get a raw side, burnt middle and enough toppings to drench everything in grease. Everything fixed but still broken. |

There must be a way to skip it.
Campaign gets really really boring after like 10+ chars youwe made it through. And each time I want to make and try a new char in league - I stumble with inner resistance in me about this boringly samey acts run. And every next char this resistance is grow stronger and stronger. So I end up just playing other games. And with PoE, I'm already can see and feel the end of it. So, no wonder someday even soon I'll go to Standard first, or just quit PoE for good, because Standard is boring also. Last edited by DarkJen#6961 on Aug 29, 2019, 10:18:48 PM

I think this is a non-starter. While some people would like this fast path and it might keep them engaged with the league content longer, most players would still get bored. Players who like rolling alts would instead use this fast track and get bored sooner, Anything that leads to getting bored sooner is a non-starter for Tencent.
The obvious comeback to the above is “but I would play longer”. Statistics show that you are a minority because you are a forum poster (we are a tiny, yet vocal, minority if GGG’s old stats are to be trusted). So if one person plays longer but 3 or 4 people who used to play longer get bored sooner then it’s a net loss. I think your proposal is far too risky for Tencent to take it seriously,.. yet. Eventually they will really start jumping the shark and then we can look forward to auction houses, no death penalty, and “Plus” leveling bonuses after your first play-through. I think we’re a long way from that still. Where I think this is less a problem is in Standard. However, they also don’t want standard to be too much fun so that people will play leagues. In my opinion and experience, this balance is really the only balance GGG has ever really cared about. I think they’d make standard inaccessible during leagues if they thought they could get away with it. POE Serenity Prayer: GGG, grant me the serenity to accept the RNG I cannot change,
the courage to challenge any unbalanced content, and the wisdom to avoid the forums. Mad: "Oh, it's simple and if you insist... I just think you're a dick. That's all." QFT: 4TRY4C&4NO |
