A solution to Melee: Make ALL melee skills movement skills/channeling skills
I've been playing POE for a number of years now and have dedicated most of characters to melee (take a look)
overwhelmingly cyclone has been the goto melee skill this league and it's not just because of it's overwhelming numbers - it's actually due to the fact that you can move whilst attacking a large area (immune to stun etc). There is no other melee skill which even comes close to this level of utility. The idea that you can move whilst using a melee skill is not a new one. Lets take a look at Diablo - almost all the melee skills (think monk and barb) have the ability to move whilst attacking the monk can utilise a short dash and unleash a three stage attack which become more powerful and affect a larger AOE as the attack progresses. having the short dash which has the option to lock on or just dash forward,even changing directions during each attack stage is what makes the melee abilities feel so great. lets use a more concrete example: sweep. stage 1: short dash sweep right to left 270 degrees low damage stage 2: short dash sweep left to right 270 degree low damage stage 3: stationary 180 degrees high damage something like this would allow it to compete on the level cyclone in utility. there are so many skills in poe that can benefit from something like this another example double strike: stage 1: short dash: small aoe damage in front of character low dmg stage 2: short dash medium aoe damage in front of character low dmg stage 3: stationary large aoe damage in front of character high dmg thoughts?
