That's correct, I think GGG is still working on a way to show Crits better.

actually, I often see too much overlaping various effects. they tend to merge and give somekind of blurry flashy visuals rendering (+ auras now!).
I can live with it, but I can't decently have a good grasp of what's really hapening....

maybe when you look at the POE logo, you see 3 faces, each one of them meaning for a different stat : red, blue and green. I imagine that, just on the top of the life orb and flashing when you affect somebody :

(some ideas) :
- red : you hit
- blue : you inflict ailment
- green : you crit

the intensity of the flash could give an hint also (red : little flash for low medium damages, big flash when near max damages...)

and of course, on top of the mana orb, the same thing, but for things affecting you.

For as much effort there is put into the skill tree and the emphasis on critical effects and so forth, you'd think we'd have an option for either combat text or more emphasized effects when this happens. Perhaps this will be implemented via in-game store when they talk about enhancing skill effects?
With all the (unexpected?) extra funds GGG has gotten over the past few days, i'd say expecting them to add some extra animations before launch is not that much of a stretch.
What i'd like to see is at least 2 (1 would get stale) extra animations per weapon per class added for critical hits only.
I guess they could also add a blood-spraying-from-the-wound-received-from-crit on enemies killed by critting sharp weapons and a knockback effect when killed by critting blunt weapons, where they'd land in a dead heap (possible to use a physics engine ragdoll, if they ever implement that).
I normally play games muted so I would like to see the visual affects also. Plus it is nice to see the damage you inflict :)
I would love to have an option to enable damage (and criticals especially fancy) display like it is done in most MMOs. For reference, the way it is done in TERA feels most satisfying IMO.
Yes, a simple yellow number over the enemy head would suffice for the critical hits. And it should have a button check/uncheck, because when you have more than 35% it might be discomforting to display and it's pretty pointless to know at that point
