triad grip - the new gloves, conversion question

I'm wondering how the conversion will work, especially with things like earendels skellies or SRS.

For SRS, currently 50% of the physical damage gets converted to fire. So 200 damage turns to 100 physical and 100 fire.

Does this mean that there is only 50% physical damage left to turn to elemental, so only 2 sockets will work on the new gloves?

Or will the remaining 100 damage (50% of original damage) be split up into 4 types of damage on a 4 socket pair of gloves, 25% per socket?

Or will the conversion apply simultaneously, so a 4 red socket glove will turn 200 physical into 300 fire damage for SRS?

Or will the conversion happen before SRS base calculations, so 4 socket gloves turn 200 physical into 200 elemental, and hence the srs convert no damage to fire.

Then, at which stage will auras be calculated?

Similar questions arise for avatar of fire via eranedels embrace. At what stage and in what form do the conversions take place?

Hey there, you can only convert 100% of physical to fire. The rest will be excess conversion and not do anything.
The opposite of knowledge is not illiteracy, but the illusion of knowledge.
From https://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Damage_conversion

"
For this type of modifier (conversion), the original damage is replaced with the converted damage. The amount of any given damage type that can be converted in this way cannot exceed 100%. If the combined value of all converted to modifiers for a given damage type is greater than 100%, the values are scaled so that the total is 100%.

I think this is the process:

You add up all the conversions from supports, auras, gear etc for a particular damage type, if it goes over 100% it all gets scaled back to 100%.

Then you add on the gain / extra modifiers.

This is done in order physical -> cold -> lightning -> fire -> chaos.

So for me I have WWBR triad grip, so with SRS it would be physical to 25% lightning, 75% fire, 50% chaos = ~17% lightning, 50% fire, 33% chaos.

For the skellies with Earendels (50% phys, cold, lightning -> fire) it would be physical to 50% cold, 25% lightning, 75% fire, 50% chaos => 25% cold, 12.5% lightning 37.5% fire, 25% chaos. Using this, calculate the cold damage, then convert 50% it to fire, then same with 50% of the lightning to fire.
Geometrikal is mostly right, only missing that conversion that comes from a gem has a higher priority and is done before conversion from other sources.
So SRS will convert 50% of phys to fire before Triad Grip gets to do anything. Grip's conversion is then scaled (cut in half) to fit the remaining 50% phys dmg:
  • 25% phys to fire becomes 12,5%
  • 25% phys to lightning becomes 12,5%
  • 50% phys to chaos becomes 25%

So with a pair of WWBR triad grip gloves SRS would deal:
  • 62,5% fire
  • 12,5% lightning
  • 25% chaos

Same gloves with skeles and Earendel's Embrace starting with phys conversion:
  • phys to fire: 50% (AoF) + 25% (triad) = 75%
  • phys to lightning: 25% (triad)
  • phys to chaos: 50% (triad)
This totals 150% phys conversion so it's scaled to fit 100% and becomes:
  • 50% phys to fire
  • 16,66% phys to lightning
  • 33,33% phys to chaos

There's also 50% lightning to fire from Earendal's Avatar of Fire so that 16,66% lightning become 8,33% fire and 8,33% lighning.

All totaled they end up converting:
  • 58,33% fire
  • 8,33% lightning
  • 33,33% chaos
and because of Avatar of Fire they then only actually deal the 58,33% fire damage.

Small warning though, it's late so I might've messed up the math >_>

Wondering on thoughts about 4w Triad Grip vs Zombie/Spectre/Skeleton(6l + maim chest.)

Is it worth it for pure chaos damage? Currently using convoking wand with 99% minion damage and +1 to all minion skill gems. It feels really smooth on Red elder and red maps.

Would it be worth using Earendals + Minion Instability + these gloves?
Ughh.. newb question here, will the new warlord influenced glove (culling strike) work with the spiders? Thanks for the awsome build BTW.. :D
